I am a diabetic and use insulin. Will I need any special forms or letters from my Dr? I will of course bring all my own meds and sharps container!

It might be a good idea to have your TA (or for you) to let RCI note on your record that you are a diabetic. As far as notes, you should bring one with you for boarding the plane (if you're flying) if you are brining needles with you.

RCCL will provide a sharps container for you on the ship.

It could be helpful to have a note from you doctor just in case. It´s also recommended that you have a prescition from you doctor just in case something unexpected happens to your insulin on the trip. With the perscription it should be much easier to get replacement of your med.
If you need any special diet you should contact RCCL in advance.

my husband has to travel with insulin.. we have a pouch (bought at a regular pharmacy) that you cool in the fridge before you leave and it keeps your insulin cool for about 12 hours. We then used the fridge in the room.

the American Diabetes assoc. has a website with travel info .. for airports. hope this helps. We were not questioned at all but we were prepared.

With the tight security I sure would get a Drs. note. My mother needs to take a shot for arthritis and had to have a letter faxed to RCI so she could bring her medicine. The Drs. office faxed it and she also took a copy with her to the ship in case anyone questioned the needles she was carrying.

Call RCI and double check the requirements as they could have changed recently.

I'm diabetic also. I carry a note from my doctor saying I need to carry lancets and syringes. I carry all my meds in their origional containers and have never been questioned. Insulin can stay unrefrigerated for 2 weeks. Ann

It's a good idea to travel with a statement on your doctor's letterhead stating that you are an insulin-dependent diabetic and are traveling with insulin and syringes. Also, have your travel agent contact RCCL's access desk to advise them and to request a refrigerater (if you aren't in a cabin that has one) and a Sharps container.

As madforcruising suggested, it's also a good idea to have a spare prescription with you in case anything happens to your insulin supply.
