richraj Posted July 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 9, 2008 The Essence of Rome trip seems to indicate a good chance of getting in Sistine Chapel, but we are going on a Sunday which I presume could be the busiest day of the week. 1.Does the guides always accompany you? 2.Is there still a chance of not getting in if there are queues, or do you queue jump on this excursion? 3. How much time does it take getting in, and spending inside altogether? 4. How much time spent in Sistine Chapel itself compared to other galleries within Vatican? humpy Posted July 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2008 Hi richraj. when we visited the vatican the guide took us in almost as soon as we got there,as we were on a guided tour we went in infront of all the other visitors waiting. In side we picked up a vatican guide and had to follow her util just before we entered the sistene chapel. From there we were back with our p&o supplied guide, who took us into the chapel.Once inside we had about 15mins to look but were not allowed to take any photos this was something to do with copywrite. From there we were walked through the st peters basilica which was very impresive.About 30 mins in here then outside into the huge square to see where the pope lives. From here we went for a meal and then on to the coliseum, and finaly back to the ship.hope this helps. happy sailing humpy:)
richraj Posted July 11, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted July 11, 2008 Hi Humpy Thanks for info. Unfortunately P & O have just advised that they are not operating the essence of Rome trip on our cruise as the ship docks Sunday and the Vatican museums and chapel are closed. Wish they had told us when we booked the cruise!!
