bplazo Posted April 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2004 How many are there and which ones are they? We are booked for the AOS in September, but air prices to San Juan are too expensive would like to maybe look into a cruise ship leaving from Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. My daughter wants to stay on a Voyager class ship. thanks brenda

Cloudmaster Posted April 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2004 CruiserCanyon, We have been on the Voyager, and are going on the Explorer in February. Curious why you would suggest the Explorer? rjg41 Posted April 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2004 The first three are essentially all the same. They made several design improvements on Navigator and Mariner and they are essentially the same. Improvements include a larger Ocean Adventure area, glass sided balconies as opposed to steel, and a number of other items. Personally I would choose the newer ships. September is a good month since prices are lower and if you are not traveling with kids there will be few on the ship. However, it is hurricane season and you could be faced with some rough seas and last minute itinerary changes so they can avoid any in the Caribbean at the time. Just so you know that up front. ssantow Posted April 9, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2004 If you plan to get a balcony cabin you will want the Mariner of the Seas. This is the newest of the class and the only one to have the balconies built outside the superstructre of the ship.(the balconies stick out) This allows for a slightly larger balcony and a slightly larger room than others of the Voyager class. They enlarged the Adventure Ocean area by getting rid of Adventure Beach on Mariner and Navigator. That means no kids pool or water slides. All the added space went to teens areas while the smaller kids ( those under 8 or so) really miss the water slides and kids pool. I understand it was a trade off and teens spend more money ( than the little ones) thus that is why they cater to them. However the lack of Adventure beach is a drawback for my kids. bplazo Posted April 9, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted April 9, 2004 We decided to switch to the Explorer. I really wanted to do the southern caribbean but we are going to save about 1700.00 on airfare by flying into Miami instead of San Juan.

kirsten_13 Posted April 10, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2004 The cabin will be smaller than the B suite and you won't get concierge service.
