New motel choices in Galveston

We were just in Galveston yesterday and noted that there are two new motels - Courtyard by Marriott and Spring Hills - under construction at the exit to the cruise terminals off I-45. It's not a scenic area and is not near the beach, but they will be very convenient for those cruising out of Galveston. Both look to be near completion. Hopefully they will offer free parking and/or a shuttle to the terminals. Haven't checked the web sites for information.

There may be a shortage of good restaurants in the immediate area. The only one I know of is Clary's. It is an older restaurant with a good reputation and is a favorite of many locals. Check out http://www.galveston.com/clarysseafood/
