Areas Children Not Allowed

Recommended Posts

The only areas I believe to be prohibited to children are :

The bar / lounge area - after a certain time of day/evening (basically same rules that you would apply to land based bars/roadhouses)

Pool Area: Depending on the ship - usually an adult only pool and hot tubs

Theater : Read the daily description for the acts that will be playing that evening - some are restricted due to adult content - but not many.

And of course the "freestyle sun deck" I believe that is adults only. (topless sunbathing)

From what I've read the Kids Club is your best bet for an 8 year old - she'll meet more children her age and have a blast with the Kids Crew.

Do they really have topless sunbathing areas on the ships? Not that I agree or disagree with the concept, I just hadn't heard before that they have them. I just thought that the adults only pools were so the adults had someplace to have a little more quiet or peacefulness. I'm actually sort of surprised. Is that on all of the ships or does it depend where the ship is cruising at?

Additionally, the child will not be permitted in the casino. She may pass through the casino on her way to somewhere...but may not sit next to mommy/daddy/auntie/uncle while the adult is gambling.

Not all NCL ships have a Freestyle deck. I'm pretty sure the Jewel has it and perhaps the Pearl and Gem.

Not every ship has a clothing optional sundeck but the Jewel does. It is out of the way and not something you would wander across unless you were looking for it.

Other than bars later at night and the casino, there is at least one adult only whirlpool as well as the adult only swimming pool, which is near the family pool. And you don't see children in the spa. Other than that, I think children are welcome everywhere.

You may not have seen children in the spa - but I'm certain they are allowed in certain areas (manicure, pedicure etc) as well as the viewing area.

Hmm I have not heard that before about the topless sunbathing? SO if I am in an Owners suite... am I aloud to sunbath topless on our private deck by the hot tub? For those of you who will blast me for this question please refrain and move on thanks!! On second thought this is probably a whole differnet thread I will move on with this one.

As far as I know, that area is completely private, so I say 'GO NUDE!' Anyone who wants to be on their own private balconies in any state of undress is able to do so, because nobody can see them (unless the ship is in port, and then it's a whole other thing! :p ). The Freestyle deck simply provides those without balconies big enough to sunbathe on the opportunity to get a 'better' tan... :)

Let's clear something up... although this topic is about the Jewel, not all NCL ships have an "adult's only" pool. The Star and Dawn for example do not have an adult's only pool. The larger ships like Jewel, Gem, Pearl and Jade do.
