US Dollars or Pesos???

Do they take US currency in Cozumel or do we need to get Pesos??? If it's pesos do they convert us to pesos on the ship?...Thanks

They will take your dollars but may give change in peso's if you don't ask for american back. Make sure you take some smaller bills so you don't have to change it!

US$ are accepted just about everywhere on Cozumel. Credit cards are also accepted at many places but aren't as good as cash if you are trying to negotiate a "deal".

I've been to Cozumel 5 times, did a lot of shopping, even at small shops on excursions, and have never been asked for pesos. The only time I've received change in pesos was when my change was in coins, and they didn't have the needed coins in US currency.
