2ndguesser Posted July 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2008 If you have kids and are planning a trip to Alaska I found a great book to get them excited and to learn about the area. It is called "Adventures of Riley: Survival of the Salmon". It takes place in SE Alaska and is mostly about the life cycle of salmon. However, they incorporate bears, eagles, moose, whales. Talks about glaciers. Very educational yet kid friendly terms. Jack Hanna even makes an "appearance" :) The artwork is great. A portion of the proceeds from the book even supoprts the Smithsonian Institution, The Wildlife Conservation Society and the World Wildlife Fund. We have checked out every book at our library about Alaska - this one I came across at a bookstore and it is by far the best out of the 20 or so books we've read. If anyone else has any great children's books, activities about Alaska please pass them on! Eileen
