VisionOS Formal Night

Recommended Posts

This is my First Time cruising, and I was wondering if anyone knew what days of the week the formal nights are for RCI VisionOS Mexican Riviera 7 Day leaving on Sunday. Also, aer both formal nights the same, or is one more "Special than the other"

Thanks,

This is really good information. We're going on our first cruise on the Vision in October. How formal is it really? Will a sport coat and tie with slacks be acceptable?

Yes very acceptable, usually as a rule of thumb Formal nights are always on the days at sea. HAVE A GREAT CRUISE icon14.gif

VacationSteph, may I ask what kind of stateroom you're in? I'm taking the Vision for the Mexican Riviera circuit in November and I'm so excited.

Actually, you may just have to write up a whole review for us (don't forget the excursions)! :D

I have done this cruise twice! I find the formal wear is more casual on the Mexico cruises. A sport jacket and tie is fine for guys. Ladies can just wear a short cocktail dress or even pant suit. I always wear my nicest outfit for the Captain's night. HAVE A GREAT CRUISE!

mehitabel,

We are staying in a Inside Stateroom. It's my Sister and I that are going, as we do a vacation every year just the two of us. We decided to book a cruise, because of flight costs to the Caribbean so high and since neither one of had ever cruised before and didn't (at the time) think we would need a view, we booked an inside Stateroom Guarantee and got a Large Interior Room #3111. We thought about upgrading later, but decided that we will wait and see if we can tolerate it. We plan on spending all the extra money we will have on Fun Fun Fun!!! So far this is our plan! (BTW I'm an extreme planner!!, I usually book things down to the minutes, but I'm trying to calm down a little)

Friday the 18th: We are driving down to LA Area from Sacramento CA and staying in Stevenson Ranch at a hotel we pricelined for very very cheap!!

Saturday the 19th: We are going to Magic Mountain for a day of fun!! Yeah Roller Coasters with No kids whining about being scared!!!

Sunday the 20th: @ 8:30 AM we have an appointment at a salon in Santa Clarita (near Magic Mountain) for Pedicures and Manicure, (The prices on the ship are not worth it and our feet will probably be tired from the day of walking around at MM. Then we are off to the cruise terminal which about an hour away.

No plans for the 21st yet( but I will report back)

Tuesday the 22nd: Cabo: We are going pairasailing (NOT booked through RCI) and doing some beach time and maybe take a boat tour (My sister begged me to have a day in Mexico where I didn't plan anything)

Wednesday the 23rd: Mazatlan: We are going to Stone Island. (I did NOT book this through RCI, way too expensive)for about 5 hours where we can do some Kayaking, some free water down alcohol, food and a banana boat ride, as well as some well deserved beach time!

Thursday the 24th: Puerto Vallarta: We are going on the Canopy Tour (this one we booked with RCI, because we didn't want to have to worry about arranging traveling back and forth) We also have a Massage scheduled for 1 hour after we come back from the Canopy tour.

Friday: nothing planned

Saturday: Nothing planned

Sunday: Leave the cruise Ship. We are going to Universal Studios for the Day and Spending the night at a hotel we pricelined near there. Monday: Driving Home to Sacramento.

I will let you know about how it goes, my likes and dislines. Is there anything you want me to find out for you?

While I am sure eventually this thread will turn to the "Tuxes are not necessary" I took the Vision on the same route and we were glad we brought our tuxes. We agreed we both would have felt out of place not being in a tux. But with cruise pasangers, ".. (its) like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get."

Sounds like you have a busy time planned.

Are you doing the Stone Island trip through Randi?? We were on Vision two years ago over Halloween and will be on it again this Halloween. The trip to Stone Island is fun and well organised. We stopped at Victors and the food is great.

I figure about 50% will be dressed formal on both formal nights, but you will fit in with no problem dressed as you plan.

Make sure that you are on deck for the sailaway. Sailing out of San Pedro is really neat, starboard side has the best view, IMO.

Definitely be on deck, port side, sailing into Cabo. It's awesome. Last time we did it, we were escorted by a school of dolphins. Unfortunately, I only managed to take photos of the waves.

I have a photo album of our last trip posted at http://family.webshots.com/album/555473392OdLkLP It will give you an idea of what to expect and it has a short narrative with each album page.

Absolutely Awesome JBonds. Great slideshow. Makes me even more excited about our first cruise.

Thanks for the information on where to be while pulling in and out of ports. OK, so I'm going to show my ignorance, but which side is port and which side is starboard?

:D :D

Port side is left hand side when you are looking forward. If you are looking at the back/aft of the ship, it's the right hand side. :)

Port and starboard have different coloured lights when entering the harbour. Red for port and green for starboard.

Remember "Is there any red port left".

vacationsteph, we're on Vision in 4 weeks... I've asked on the board about the ship because I know she's not a "new one" and one guy sent me pix of it - it looks great!!! I still have them if you want to see them. They really put my mind at ease - although Vision doesn't have Johnny Rockets. We just came back from Magic Mountain!! Be sure to ride the Goliath!! My cousin rode it and I think it scared him of all roller coasters there because no matter how much we tried to get him to go on less scarier ones - he wouldn't.. It's the best one there. Feel free to email me and I'll forward the pix of Vision. :p

VacationSteph -- Where did you book your parasailing? We are on this cruise over NYE and parasailing is on my list of stuff to do, but I haven't booked anything. We want to parasail in tandem; do you know if the company you booked has a set-up like that?

We are also sailing on Vision in October with erndog50 and just can't wait.:)

VacationSteph - Can you please let me know how the ziplining in Puerta Vallarta is when you get back. We have the excursion booked through the cruiseline also and want to know just how exciting it really is. We are doing the Dolphin Swim in Cabo and then some friends of ours that have a house in Cabo are going to take us for lunch at their favorite spot and give us the tour.

How did you manage to get a massage booked already? I thought you couldn't do that until you boarded!

Have a great trip - can't wait for your review and pictures!:D

jbond - great pictures! It looks like you have a wonderful time and we are hoping to do the same. I just upgraded to a JS (8552) and can't wait to board as we have only done outside staterooms previously so this will be our first balcony cruise and in a JS!

I found this great tour company. http://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Cruise-Shore-Excursions.htm A friend of mine used them on his Cruise last year and was very happy with them.

I have done the canopy tour all over the Caribbean. It seems like every vacation we go on that has to be our #1 Excursion.

I booked a massage, not on the boat, but on land at the Krystal ... Just email them with the date and time that fits your schedule.
