Can we fit this all in Nassau?

We will be in Nassau from 8-2...is the following realistically possible in 4 1/2hrs approx.

Can we visit the Atlantis and the 'digs' for 1-2 hrs.
Go to Bay St. for a little shopping. (Is Bay St. right near the port?)
Get the #10 jitney on Bay St. to the Radisson on Cable Beach for an 1 hour or so.

Is this all possible or way too rushed. Does it take long to get to the Radisson on Cable Beach from Bay St.? It is just my husband and I going--no children so we can move it.

Not sure the trip to the Radisson is worth it for just 1 hours.. but you can always just walk west past the British Colonial and hang out at the local beach along the esplanade. It's nothing fancy, no amenities, but the water is gorgeous, and you'll be nearby the dock so you don't have to be so rushed. (just a 10 minute walk back to the boat)
You may need beach shores, as the shore line is a bit rocky at low tide.

Thanks, Scubagirrl for the quick reply.

Do you think there is much difference between Cable Beach at the Radisson or the local beach that you described near the pier as far as beautiful. You are correct I don't want to rush but if there is a difference between them then I will gladly make the trip. We don't need to do any of the watersports we just would like nice crystal clear water and white sand.

Have heard alot of nice things about Cable Beach.

Could we do the digs in an hour or two?

Trouble at the local beach is that you won't have a lounge chair or drink service. But the water is the same. Crystal Clear.
To tell you the truth.. I usually bring along a pint of rum and a couple cans of coke, a good book, and a towel to sit on. My own little piece of heaven. Unless it's a Sunday, you'll likely have the whole beach to yourself. On the weekend, a few local families BBQ nearby.

As for the Digs, .. you can do them in under 2 hours, but you might waste a little more time checking out the Casino, shoppes and ambience of the Atlantis.

Are you going on the Carnival Glory? That is the ship we will be going on 02/05. We will only have 4-4.5 hours in Nassau also.
To be honest...I don't think you will have enough time to do all you list.
I have never been to Nassau before...but I have been on many cruises...and believe me 4.5 hours goes by really fast! If you plan on going to Atlantis and doing The Dig...I think you will only have enough time to either go shopping OR go to the beach. From what I understand you can access the beach next to Atlantis by using a public walkway. This would save some time being as its close. But if you have your heart set on going to Cable beach you could probably make it there too with the time you have left. I would'n't try and fit everything into the limited time you have...you will be VERY rushed and the things you do have time for you won't enjoy because your rushing off to the next place.
We plan on going to Atlantis also...but we are just going to check out the free stuff...we're not going to do The Dig. I'd like to go to the beach also...but with the limited time we have I hate to go and get all saltly and sandy and then have to head back to the ship. So I think that when we are done checking out Atlantis...we may take a walk down the beach next door...then were heading back to the dock area and walking to the Water tower to get a nice view of the area. If we have time we will check out the fort there too. There's never enough time to do everything...so what we figure is eventually we will probably be back and next time we will do something else. I wish and I'm sure you do too...that we had more time in Nassau.
Good Luck with what ever you decide!

Thanks for the reply, Caribbean Crazy, no we are not going on the Glory. We are going on the RC Mariner of the Seas 11/04. We will be in port from 8-2 so I counted on 4.5 hrs by the time you get off the ship and leave yourself time to get back on.

I have found so much useful info on these review boards! I wish I would have found them on our first cruise last January. Our 2nd and 3rd ports on this cruise give us ample time to do the things we want but Nassau is short.

I still can't decide what to do. I definitely want to see the digs, so I think we can accomplish that in 1-2 hrs, go to Bay St. for a very short time of shopping (half hour or so)...I am not big on shopping I'd rather explore the ports. Besides I am leaving my major shopping for St. Thomas and St. Maartens!!

Scubagirrl, gave me info about the beach at the British Colonial Hilton and it seems like a nice place right close to the port. But I think I will feel I made a mistake if I don't go to Cable Beach at the Radisson for an hour or so.
