What he said! It really is convenient - just aquick hop to the elevators and you are set. Be prepared to have a police dog sniff out your car . . . and spend time there if you are a dog or cat owner. Other than that search, no problems.

Is the parking at the pier in NYC secure? I am thinking of booking a cruise on the Dawn but very concerned about leaving my car in NYC.

extremely. Its the same security used to protect the ships. No car may enter the parking lot until its checked and the terminal is closed locked and secured when the ships aren't in port to prevent someone from planting a you kn o what. Its much more secure than any airport parking lot and almost every private lot for that matter. You obviously are concerned about NYC. NYC is safer than almost any place else, even for cars. a secured lot within NYC is safer than any place else including your garage.

NY is not particularly a dangerous place- less dangerous than most of the places a cruise ship stops....

To go into the parking on the pier, you have to pay first and then there are Security Guards with dogs that check your car before they allow you to park. The lots are safe. Because they are so close to the ships, they are guarded.

There are two pictures of one of the lots in these pictures from a Carnival ship.
