Wondering about shore excursions in Iceland. My wife and I have cruised extensively and have found most ship sponsored shore excursions to be not worth the price.

Checking around this site I saw a reference to a Grey Line golden circle tour from Reykjvik. I am also wondering if there would be public thermal pools fairly close to wear the ship docks. Also are there independent tour operators that would be more economical and better than ship sponsored tours.

A few years ago on a trip to S. America (around Cape Horn) we had a great time with other passengers in a 9 passenger van.

Have a tour set up in the Shetland Islands. Will probably just do self guided walking tours in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Halifax, Nova Scotia. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

You could go to the bottom of this page, then scroll through the "Forum Jump" selector.

Find the "Port of Call" and select the one which would apply.

Or check out some of the "Roll Calls" for your particular cruise.

Good Luck!

Well, I just learned something new. I always tell folks to click on BOARDS at the top left of this page, then find PORTS OF CALL or ROLL CALLS. You just showed another way to get there.

In any event, the advice is 100% on the money.
