Any relatively recent reviews for Rhapsody?

Recommended Posts

We're going in June, and was wondering if anyone wanted to share their recent experiences. Would love to hear them!

Thanks

There have ben a few reviews lately, but you would have to search for them. We went in August and had a fantastic time! Had an oceanview on Deck 4 (4038 connecting with my mother and one of her friends). The best views and a large window! The magicians were fabulous and the captain is hysterical on his daily reports! We saw a beautiful sunset in Key West. We got in to Grand Cayman with no problems and went to Seven Mile Beach (by the Holiday Inn-free beach! and cab fare $4/pp). Love the absolutely crystal clear water there! We also went to Cozumel and did the Dolphin Swim which we booked online with Dolphin Discovery-FANTASTIC!!
The ship was fairly easy to get around, but my mom did get a little confused a couple of times (which isn't much considering she cannot see very well) There was a lot to do on the ship and it is beautiful. We played "Win A Cruise Bingo" and won another cruise! We have booked on the Mariner, only because we want to see what that kind of ship is like without having to pay , but know we will have fun.
We plan on going on the Rhapsody again. That is how much we enjoyed the ship. I have heard many people say the same-good experience, will/have booked again.
We had other friends with us on the same deck (first timers) and they had a blast as well. We had some other friends (from the boards here) on the ship also, and the only problem they had was with noise in their cabins on Deck 8 (below the pool deck). They heard a lot of noise of chairs moving, etc. from overhead. it didn't ruin the cruise, but when they book again, they are not planning on booking rooms there.
Here is a link to some of our photos of the trip and the ship:

I went on Rhapsody in November last year and then again on the 3/28/04 sailing. I did notice a lot of difference in just 4 1/2 months. The ship while not in bad condition could use some new carpet just about everywhere. We had inside cabin and the walls were terribly beaten up and the bathroom sink was cracked quite severely. The food was about the same in dining room but I thought the food in Windjammer was not as good this last time as November. Having said that, I think that cruise is an excellant ship if you can get a good price, but I won't be sailing her again. By the way, the purser's desk was the most rude, unfriendly bunch of people I have ever dealt with on a cruiseline. They weren't just that way with me, they were arrogant to others as well. I did write about it in my costomer satisfaction survey.

Thanks for your stories (and forwarnings ) and especially for sharing your pix, Janet. You have a lovely family! We will be on Deck 4, but have an inside stateroom... I already miss the window , but hope to have a blast anyways!

We were on the Rhapsody the week of April 4th. We had Junior Suite. There was a little noise from the solarium. Not too bad. The ship is in need of some new carpet and bedspreads. The public rooms look pretty good. Staff was very nice. Stateroom attendent was superb. Our comedian was Carl Banks. He was very good. The Captain is a riot! Food was good. Some things were fantastic..others just ok. Key West was crowded and touristy. Grand Caymen.. we took a tour to Hell and the turtle farm. Not sure I would recommend doing that. We found a brew pub my husband loved and he snorkeled there as well. Cozumel ..we went to Paradise Beach. Loved it. Free entrance and use of chairs etc. Just buy the drinks. They were very good. Had lunch at La Mission. Good but very expensive for lunch. I enjoyed the cruise. The main advantage for us was a Galveston departure. This is a great cruise if you like a lot of sea days. There did not seem to be enough time in port. We left Grand Caymen and Cozumel early in the day, so didn't get to enjoy any night life there.

Went last August and had a blast. Had an oceanview room. We have booked the cruise again for Thanksgiving and can't wait. Loved the Captain but heard he might be retiring??

we just got off the ship on 4/11. we had an awesome time. the only bad part was disembarkation. it was the most bass ackwards thing i have ever seen. they don't check the color tags. every one with every color gets in line. we had white early departure tags and it took forever to get off the ship. they were boarding our flight when we got to the airport. it was horrible. but the cruise itself was awesome, the captain is so funny!

did they have two different lines for customs (once you depart the ship)? One for those holding birth certificates and one w/passports?

We were on the Splendour over Easter and were told that the wonderful captain HAS retired. He now lives in the Houston area. He will be missed. I have always had a wonderful time on the Rapsody. Would sail her anyday.

I wrestled with reality for years, Doctor, and I'm happy to state, I finally won out over it. (Harvey 1950)

There's a thread on the Royal Caribbean "Meet & Mingle" section that has a couple of recent reviews (including one from us). I think it's titled "Recent Rhapsody Passengers - How was it?".

Enjoy your cruise!

Just returned from the Rhapsody 4/11. Great cruise, this was our fourth RCI cruise. We had been on Enchantment a while back and the ships were very similiar. I prefer this size ship to Voyager, we were on the maiden Vogage for Voyager and while the trip was great the ship was just a little big for me but the rest of our group loved it.
Rhapsody is a very classy ship. We loved the days at seas and my 16 year old daughter brought along a friend and they had a blast.
Key West was actually a great stop, we walked to the Southern most point of the US for photos and then just walked all over town and checked out the shops, and Mallory Square was quite an adventure at sunset. You definately want to check this out. The sunset is unreal.
Grand Cayman we did Stingray City, snorkel& beach combo. Great excursion but you don't have anytime for shopping. We grabbed one Hard Rock Shirt as we went for the ferry back to the ship. My husband actually saw this as a good thing. The excursion takes up all of your time, but we really liked it. there were three teenagers in our group and I think this was their favorite.
Cozumel, we've been there 4 times so we just caught a taxi and did some shopping, then we headed back for the boat, this was great because almost everybody was off the boat so we had the pool to ourselves for about an hour.
We really enjoyed the deck party as we left Key West, We all had a good time.
The Shall We Dance Lounge had some great theme parties each night and it was good because the teenagers could go with us. We aren't big on letting them go around the ship by themselves. I know I'm paranoid but if they are with me they aren't in trouble or overboard.
Disembarkation at first made me upset with the disorginization but there are more important things in life to worry about rather than who gets off the boat and on the bus first. I least I'm healthy enough to go on vacation some kids are dying of cancer and can't even get out of the hospital first.
Sorry I've rambled feel free to let me know if I can help with any specifics
