Impressive Wave Off Africa

Thanks suzski, I know I am being paranoid but we haven't cruised much during hurricane season before and the one time we did (October), we had lousy weather due to running from a hurricane in the eastern caribbean. We just thought we'd try it in August but I know the captain would never put us in harms way....

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 200 PM EDT WED JUL 30 2008

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

A WELL-DEFINED AREA OF LOW PRESSURE APPROACHING THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS IS MOVING TO THE NORTHWEST AT 10 TO 15 MPH. ALTHOUGH THIS SYSTEM HAS NOT BECOME ANY BETTER ORGANIZED TODAY...THE LOW HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION BEFORE MOVING OVER COOLER WATERS ON THURSDAY. INTERESTS IN THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM. REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...

HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS TODAY AND TOMORROW.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL

800 AM EDT FRI AUG 1 2008

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE OVER THE

EASTERN ATLANTIC...ABOUT 675 MILES WEST OF THE CAPE VERDE

ISLANDS...IS PRODUCING A LIMITED AMOUNT OF SHOWER ACTIVITY.

ALTHOUGH ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS ARE CURRENTLY NOT VERY

CONDUCIVE...SLOW DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS POSSIBLE AS IT

ENCOUNTERS SLIGHTLY WARMER WATERS DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE

NEXT 48 HOURS.
