Well, I haven't won $10,000 on a cruise (yet...:D ), but last Nov on the Triumph, I did well. Mom wasn't feeling well (1st cruise) and told me to go have fun while she napped. Told me not to come back until I had won $1000. Needless to say, I popped in the room around midnight with just over $1000 on my sign and sail card from a PENNY SLOT! Of course, in trying to re-create the magic, it went back to the casino throughout the cruise with no return...:( Someday I'll learn to walk away when I'm up, I swear!

If you go to the Ocean Players website it has a link to the biggest winnings for all of the ships. There was a $20,000 winner on our ship in May and a big one the week prior as well.

If I may, this thread's premise reminds me of the "Did you get a good upgrade?" threads.

Yes, a few people win big -- or get the upgrade to the Penthouse -- (but not very many). The nice folks who are going to respond here are the lucky "tip of the iceberg" that won. Most of us, pay our dues, make our obligatory donations to the casino, feed the slots, etc.

I think most of us agree the odds are "less generous" onboard any ship than at most "regular" casinos. And that's fine as long as you don't think you're going to win enough to pay for your next ten cruises every time you gamble! :D

Have fun out there! And we'll all keep looking for the luckiest machines and tables. :)

On NCL last year they were giving out free drinks in the casino so Allen and I sat at the quarter machine..the one that pushes out more quarters and prizes... (the casino was mobbed and we could not get near any other machine or table) and spent like $100 to win a $5 cheap bottle of French Sparkling something...:p

Hey folks! Im interested in hearing anyone that has won BIG in one of Carnivals ships in the Casino??? ... I also wonder WHOM regulate them ?

Here is the answer I think you are looking for:

http://www.cruise-casinos.com/rules.htm

Sooner or later, a question that crosses the mind of many cruise casino players is: Does anyone regulate casino gaming on cruise ships, and how are the interests of the player protected?

The short answer is that there is no independent governmental regulation of the type provided in Las Vegas by the Nevada Gaming Commission and State Gaming Control Board, or in Atlantic City by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission.

... ... ...

But in the absence of government regulators, the cruise ship casinos operate under a vague, not exactly confidence-inspiring, set of guidelines published in 1999 by an organization called the International Council of Cruise Lines (ICCL), whose members include most of the cruise lines covered by this site.

The ICCL guidelines address the equipment, conduct of games, internal controls, and customer service for casinos on cruise ships.

In terms of facilities and equipment, the ICCL guidelines call for all equipment purchased and installed on cruise vessels to "meet the regulatory standards of the Nevada Gaming Control Board or other licensed jurisdiction for payback and internal software."

... ... ...

So what does one finally make of the question of whether player interests are adequately protected in cruise ship casinos?

Let me start by saying I absolutely believe the games are "fair." Since some cruise line rules improve the casino's odds at blackjack and craps over what you would find in Vegas, and since you have no way of knowing what most cruise ship slots have been set to pay, regulated or not, I suspect the cruise ship casinos do just fine and I don't think you have to worry about cheating.

And I certainly believe that playing in a cruise ship casino is a better bet than gambling in many of the casinos you find in some of the ports cruise ships visit.

For most gamblers (and certainly for beginners), the slightly poorer odds you encounter on some cruise ship may very well be outweighed by the fun you have in what tend to be extremely passenger-friendly casinos

... ... ...

I abbreviated it, but it's a good read.

I know of 2 men from my town that won $1,400,000.00 on Carnival's progressive slots. I was on another Carnival ship at the time and was playing the same progressive slots. I stopped and 2 or 3 minutes later they shut them off due to the win on another ship.

I know it happened because they spent a lot of time in our local papers. 2 friends had been playing together. One went to get a drink or something and the other was playing alone when he hit the 1.4 million. The one that was playing said it was ALL his, the other guy thought they should split it.

3-4 years later, they were still fighting each other in the local courts. End of friendship. Lawyers take all! [i do not know that. But I assume the lawyers won the most]

I don't even step foot into the casino anymore, I can get rid of my money and enjoy it in other ways.

I knew my luck was miserable when I played in the slot tournament and 'won' the Biggest Loser prize. Good grief

Although my table mates won a few hundred playing slots. I have not seen any BIG wins though.

There was a Ballys AC VIP cruise group on the Miracle in May...

A couple 100 people..

In the casino there were two older ladies who were very cute.. One sat at the same slot day in and day out and we watched her hit .. I think it was for about $4000 on a quarter slot..

There was this other lady who sat at the same slot also and if someone was sitting at it, she would pace back and forth nervously until they left..

When she played she would hit the machine on each spin.. and I mean hit the machine.. It was funny and odd all at once... never saw her win though...

I was on the Fascination in July. Started to play the slots. Only to loose my money. Switched to video poker. Won nothing big, but was able to play on their money. Second night. Played video poker again. Still played on their money for awhile. Third night went back to that same machine. Started to loose money. Stopped until the last night. Went back to the same machine then switched to another one. Still lost. I had fun, but put it all back in along with the change I brought along.

I have a funny story about winning on the slots on the Miracle. On the last night of our cruise my friend and I decided to play the slots and play only until we each lost $20.00. We sat down at side by side machines and started playing. We we played for a short time and had both been up and down when suddenly the lights and bells were going off on my machine. then I looked over at my friend and the same thing was happening on her machine. We were both getting a win at the same time.

We just looked at each other and started cracking up. We were laughing so hard we nearly fell off our stools. Neither one of us won big. I won about $140.00 and she won about $120.00. We aren't big gamblers and so she just looked at me and said "we're going to cash out now, right." I said "yes" and so we did. It was just so funny how we both won at the same time. We're sailing together again in Feb. of 2010 so we'll have to make sure and play side by side again.:D
