Amtrak from DC to NYC - day of departure

Anyone out there used Amtrak on the day of departure from DC to NYC? I am afraid of a train delay. We could get on a 6:20am train and get in to NYC around 9:45am. This allows us plenty of time to get to the port by 11:00 or so, if everything runs on time. I am so afraid of a train delay and then missing the ship! Any thoughts?

Trains run hourly between DC and NY. Even if trains are delayed, it is rarely more than an hour. Assuming your ship leaves late afternoon, you should have no problem.
