Land Taxi or Water Taxi?? You won't need a car if that is a concern, but for someone to give you a better reply you must say where you want to go. twoatsea Posted August 4, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 4, 2008 Don't know if you are going to the cruiseport or to a hotel in Venice. If going to the cruiseport, a taxi can get you there. If going to a hotel in Venice it cannot. It will drop you off at Piazzale Roma, the Venice transportation center. From there, you must take a public vaporetto (water bus) to get the closest stop for your hotel. Then from the stop, you must walk to the hotel. IMO, if you are going to a hotel in Venice, a taxi or private car is not the best way.
Ardy53 Posted August 4, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 4, 2008 If you are going to Venice, I don't suggest hiring a car. There are currently a few threads on this board about getting into Venice from the airport. We will be arriving there in 3 weeks time. We booked a hotel for one night near P. Roma, which is where the bus from the airport (3 Euro) stops. There are several other ways to do this; Motor Taxi, Water Taxi, Private Launch, but the cheapest is by bus. This might not be the best option for everyone, depending on where they are staying and how active and mobile they are. Please clarify your requirements. Roy & Val We have been to Venice several times and used a water taxi to hotel from airport. This time we are going to Piazzale Roma and wondered about the ease of getting a taxi or whether to organise a car from Limo company.
