lscole Posted April 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2004 I've read on these board that if your cruising out of Port of Los Angeles it's better to fly into Long Beach airport. Soooo, couple of questions. How far is airport to the pier? How much is a cab? RCCL does not do transfers from Long Beach airport only LAX about 40 minute drive and $38 r/t. Is there any shopping on the pier for water and soda and maybe beer? We've never cruised out of Calif before. Any other info I need to know? Are there any web sites that could give me this info? KStevens79 Posted April 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Here are a few websites that can give you more info. The one for Long Beach airport has a bunch of shuttle, taxi and limo companies. The other link is for the Port of Los Angeles. There is a tourist place about a mile or so down the road from the ship terminal called Ports O' Call Village, I'm sending that too. I havent been to the port in three years. telesaps Posted April 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2004 You do not want to go to Ports of Call. I live in Palos Verdes, which is the city next to San Pedro. We went to Ports of Call last year. Nobody spoke English! It was dirty, smelly, and crowded. Awful. We went on one of the 3 day Mexico cruises a couple of years ago. There was no place to buy beer, water, soda, etc., except for maybe a soda machine. However, I believe that Carnival has a new dock now, maybe things are different. Do Not Go To Ports of Call Village. It will leave you with a bad iimpression of our otherwiase beautiful area!
SRAFROG Posted April 12, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 12, 2004 We live in Long Beach and we sail on the same cruise several times and we are only 20 minutes away from the dock in San Pedro, I'am not sure what the cab or shuttle service would be but it must be cheaper than LAX, Dennis
