mamasue Posted August 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2008 Anybody know the water temperature in Grand Cayman in mid-September?? I'm going to dive, but not sure what suit to take.... whether a skin will be enough.... or 2 mm shorty?? Don't really want to lug my 3mm full suit.... but I do feel the cold!!! I'm going to dive, but not sure what suit to take.... whether a skin will be enough.... or 2 mm shorty?? Don't really want to lug my 3mm full suit.... but I do feel the cold!!! From www.sunsethouse.com 's website: Summer - May to October 85°F to 90°F during the day. 73°F to 85°F at night Water temperature ranges between 82°F to 86°F Relative humidity varies from 68% to 92%. I've been there in October and the water was 81 that day so if you don't get too cold in 80 degree water I'm sure the skin will be fine.:) Randall
RedHeadTexan Posted August 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2008 I was diving in GC in December and only wore a skin. The water was in the low 80's. I think my shortie would have been too much. One guy on the boat actually went diving in Wranglers...yes blue jeans. I guess they keep you warm or protected or something:confused: . That was bizarre
drew sailbum Posted August 9, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2008 Water temperatures typically peak in late September to early October. Expect water temps of about 85 degrees. If you really feel the cold then a 3/2 shorty would be suitable. Most people dive without a wetsuit at that time of year.
