Josephina's Cocina con Alma Cooking Class

I took Josephina's class in April and it was fantastic! We met at the old fashion downtown market to shop for all the ingredients for the meal. It was a real cultural experience to see how Mexicans shop in the traditional manner before supermarkets. We toured the market and sampled fruits from the various vendors like a farmers market.

We walked a couple of blocks to the kitchen through the main business sector (not tourist) passing Domino's Pizza and Blockbuster video, but mostly normal shops used by locals.

We helped to prepare all the various dishes and ate until we were stuffed, one of the best meals I have had in Cozumel. It was a very personalized experience and I felt we were priviledge to see first hand all the techniques and secrets of a great chef working in her private kitchen.

It was very easy to get taxis to and from, but it was only about four blocks from the main tourist plaza and walking distance from the downtown pier.
