I can't believe there's only 5 days standing between now and the time I take my first cruise! Honestly this trip can't come at a better time! It's a "girls' trip" and I'm going with my sister, my mom, my sister's friend (who is really cool and I get along with her too), a friend of my sister's friend and her mom. I have a feeling that after we take this cruise, SOS and the Bahamas will never be the same! We all like to get stupid-silly and we don't need alcohol to do it although it will certainly enhance the effect. :p Does anyone have any last-minute advice? I appreciate the input I've gotten to the questions I've asked so far, btw... :) Happy Sailing! :D

Aww! I'm excited for you! :) The Sovereign was our first cruise, and it's a great way to become addicted! Don't try to do everything, but make a point to do your "musts"... whether it's "I must have a fruity drink by the pool", "I must eat at Johnny Rocket's while I look out at the ocean passing by", "I must get my picture taken by the big clock that I saw on the Travel Channel".. lol They may seem little and no big deal, but I'm sure you have a lot on your to-do list. Just make sure to stop and just take it all in! You're going to have a GREAT time with your family and friends! Remember, it's what you make it! There... I'm done. :)

Hi- I'm going on SOS in 5 days as well!! I can't wait. There are 9 of us-me, my hubby, 3 of my 4 children (all over 18) and 4 of their friends. I told them wear a lotta sunblock in Coco cay and stay hydrated- suns a lot hooter it seems down there then here in the East ( from R.I.). Have a fantastic time- one more tip- save your pool chairs early on Thursday cause they go quick on a day at sea!!

Thank you for your well-wishes everyone! I can't begin to describe how much I am looking forward to this trip. :D The6socos, I'm not too far away - I'm in MA. Maybe we can meet while we're on the ship! :)

That sounds like fun! What time do you think you're getting to the ship? We have super early flight Monday and hope to be there by 11:00! What are you doing in Nassau? We booked Comfort Suites and are going to Atlantis for the day- going back for a bite on the ship then of course spending time at Senor Frogs (really fun crazy bar within walking distance to the ship)

We'll be arriving in Miami the night before - just before 10pm. I have a dolphin encounter at 1pm while in Nassau but beyond that, nothing planned - I'm winging it. I've heard of Senor Frogs and plan on going there at some point. What time will you be going? Let's plan to meet! You can send me a message at xaphrie@yahoo.com and I will definitely get back to you. :)

While you're in Nassau, run out to Atlantis and check out the hotel and casino. It is a really cool place to look around. It costs $4/pp for a taxi from the peer area. We have been on Sovereign several times and always enjoy her. What deck are you on? Make sure you use sun screen on Coco Cay. We live in Florida and are used to the sun, but the sun is even stronger there and we always see a lot of sunburned people at dining that night. Also, don't stop at the first beach. If you go the right and go all the way down, there is a nice beach/bar area with hammocks.

Hope you have a great time!

Thanks, flcouple! We're on deck 8. I will definitely be picking up some extra sunscreen - I've been to FL in July/August and and it is HOT. lol Thank you for the tip on getting to Atlantis. My DH has always wanted to go there and he's a tad jealous that I'm going but at the same time, when this trip came about, I asked him to go but he declined, thinking he wouldn't have time to go b/c of his work schedule. Hindsight is 20/20. ;) Thanks for the tip for Cococay! Btw, do they serve blue drinks at any of the bars? When I'm at work, I dream of sipping on a blue foo-foo drink on a tropical beach somewhere. I need to get a pic of myself on the beach with one while I'm down there. :D

Quick question OP... why are you flying into Miami for an SOS cruise? You should be flying into Orlando. I hope you have a great cruise. She was our first ship and how we fell in love with cruising.

Happy Sailing!

Thanks, Luv2crosse! My mistake - we are flying into Orlando. :o We're driving into Miami after we land and staying overnight near the port. I'm so giddy about my trip I'm not getting my itinerary right! :D

Thanks, cruise4fun - I hope you enjoy your cruise too! :)

I hope you will consider driving to Port Canaveral, not Miami!

Woops, I had yet another "duh" moment! :o I believe we're staying at the Hampton Inn in Port Canaveral b/c we have to return our rent-a-car to a Cape Canaveral location. Guess I shouldn't have started celebrating early last night! :p :D

My best advice would be to make the most of everything. If something wasn't quite the way you hoped it would be, let it go and enjoy everything else. You spend too much money to waste valuable vacation time stewing over some things that you cannot control.

I'm so happy for you! I remember our first cruise and it was an amazing experience. Enjoy yourself and have a wonderful trip!

We were on deck 8 on SoS two weeks ago. We really liked it. We could see out and we got sunlight, but it wasn't direct light so it didn't get as hot. You can get almost any drink on Coco so yes a fun blue drink should be an easy one for you. Have one for me please. lol Also, if you want to try food in Nassau, Cafe Skans on E. Bay street near the peer (turn right when get to bay and it is on the right) is really good. We tried a new place this time called Conch Fritters. It was just okay and they were a lot more expensive than Skans and they were out of a lot of their food. For example, Chicken fingers for our kids (kids menu) was $7.95, but it was $17.95 for the adult version which was the exact same amount of food you just get cole slaw as an extra. Try the peas and rice and Skans or their conch fritters. Yum!

I hope you have a great time. Please post some pics of your trip when you come back. It is always fun to see pics from a cruise. :)
