bioengr Posted August 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2008 How would you rate/review this cruise. We've been on RCL in the Carribean (Mariner of the Seas) and loved it. Travelling with 2 kids (14 & 17). Also, what sights do you recommend at the various ports? Thanks
dougp26364 Posted August 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2008 We haven't sailed this particular cruise but we have done a 12 night Med cruise on Brilliance. Essentially, it's a wonderful sampler platter of Italy IMO. The port times are realively long at 12 hours. If you choose late seating for dinner, you'll get to bed around 11 pm and may have to be up early for many of the port excursions. We wound up skipping diner in the main dining room most nights because we were just to tired but, we saw a LOT of Europe on that cruise. For us it was the best cruise we've taken. Next year we'll do the RT Barcelona 7 night Med cruise on Voyager. I'm looking forward to the ship as we really enjoyed our one sailing on a Voyager class ship. We're also looking forward to returning to many of the same ports of call as you just can't do it all on one sailing. This time through we don't feel the need to try to do all the big excursion. Hopefully we won't feel as worn out each day. We've also selected early seating with the knowledge that we likely won't be back onboard the ship in time for dinner in the main dining room. That's all right because we learned last time that RCI had many good alternatives to eat whenever it's convenient for us. I'm hoping that they'll have anytime dining by the time we sail again. We really enjoy the main dining room but, we enjoy the ports of call even more.
bctoboston Posted August 21, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2008 I very much enjoyed Voyager... I just got back and wrote a review in the last few days if you'd like to take a look (Voyager - Mediterranean 8/9/09). It's a nice way to get a taste of those areas... it's busy though! cruz1234 Posted August 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2008 We did this cruise last summer with DD who was 15. It was wonderful, we saw so much it was incredible! DD met kids from all over the world! After our late seating dinner she would head to the teen club, she would get in at 1 and back up and out by 8 am! She was beat! We all enjoyed all the ports, we hired our own guides for Villafranche, Florence and Rome, did the ship tours for Naples and Palermo. We enjoyed doing it both ways. We were able to see what we wanted to see, at our pace in the first 3 ports, there was so much and we really enjoyed doing it on our own. Our drivers were so knowledgeable and told us so much about the areas. Our DD loved it all too..she can't wait to go back! You will have a wonderful time and the ship is great too..alot to do on board. We had a balcony stateroom and it was so nice to be outside as you went into port and sailed out! We spent the day before and day after the cruise in Barcelona and loved the city. The Voyager is a very nice ship and the crew were great. I would do this same cruise again in a minute. Blaidd-Drwg Posted August 29, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2008 Rome and the Collesium were great, but I loved our excursion in France. We took a tour to EZE, a medeval town on a mountain top. It was a lot of fun running up and down the narrow streets. Overall, the Voyager was a great ship on a great cruise
