terri910 Posted August 21, 2008 #26 Share Posted August 21, 2008 It depends on the person... there isnt any difference from when I was 20 to now being 24. ( i was married at 20) There are exceptions to every rule. But there's still a reason that things are considered "as a rule"....
d-lite-n-cruisin Posted August 21, 2008 #27 Share Posted August 21, 2008 Count me in for the no kids cruise. I don't dislike them, but being over 50, I seem to be more easily annoyed by the screaming and running amuck. maybe it's the voice pitch:confused: Obnoxious drunks, while sometimes annoying (depending on my proximity to them), can be entertaining (at least to me). Our grand daughter goes with our group for one cruise every year. She is well behaved and supervised at all times. Noticed that those kids that ARE supervised by responsible adults also tend to behave. Note that I said RESPONSIBLE adults!:) YOU said amuck....... that's cool. No kid Cruises would be cool!!!!! Skywench Posted August 21, 2008 #28 Share Posted August 21, 2008 Yes, I'd like a no kids cruise. There have always been some kids on my cruises, but not too many, as I would never cruise during a time when the kids are out of school, like summer vacation and spring break. CWcruisers Posted August 21, 2008 #29 Share Posted August 21, 2008 I think I have a solution for this. We can keep the kids, but they have one bar designated to them as the soda bar. Or as I put on each comment card, make the soda free! I can deal with them running amuk, I'm good at dodging, but I really hate having to wait behind a gaggle of them while they are getting their sodas when I want my adult beverage at what should be the adult bar. rdler Posted August 21, 2008 #30 Share Posted August 21, 2008 My son is six years old. He is a gentleman. He knows the salad fork from the fork for the main course. Yes, he does love to play, but I always supervise. It seems to me that you are complaining about negligent parents.

lostaddict Posted August 21, 2008 #35 Share Posted August 21, 2008 As a fairly subdued 29 year old mother of two 8 year olds, also relatively well behaved, I have to say I don't mind the kids. Howver, I do wish that there was a screening process to send back a few categories: * The wonderful children who press ever button on the elevator just so they can hear "LIDO...DECK" over and over. :D * Any of the wonderful teens and 20-somethings who lack the stomach (and pepto bismol) to handle that twentieth drink that they just HAD to have *Anyone with wheels on their shoes. I know they're not allowed but they still end up on my cruise. * ANY parent who puts up with this crap. Other than that, I am still a kid at heart, and I try to enjoy them as much as I can... that being said... an adult only cruise would be kind of nice in it's own way. pba20493 Posted August 21, 2008 #36 Share Posted August 21, 2008 I would love a 30 and over cruise. For something to be a stereotype, there has to be a certain amount of truth to it. I just dont like kids, I cant stand the high pitched screaming, yelling and crying. Now I know not every child is like that, but I dont want to take the chance. There are alot of adults that have this loud wooooo every time something happens that I cant stand either. Go easy on the wooooo. Its like star trek, woooo factor 11, engage! Gives me such a headache. Makes me want to slug them in the woooo hole :D  :D But yeah, a kidless cruise would be for me. Tim

ShedQueen77 Posted August 21, 2008 #39 Share Posted August 21, 2008 Maybe I'm immune because I'm a Mom, but the little runts really don't bother me. They didn't even before I had kids. That being said, I wouldn't reject the idea of a "Mom and Dad" getaway either. ;)
jennbill Posted August 21, 2008 #40 Share Posted August 21, 2008 I'm in. Keep the little buggers on shore until they're 18. I've always said that Disney should designate one day kid-free at their parks.

cathyoo Posted August 21, 2008 #42 Share Posted August 21, 2008 wow, amazes me how many people dislike children. They don't like the pitch of their voices??? That's pretty amazing. Disney without kids??? Someone whooing makes you want to punch them???? I've never had the opportunity to cruise with my grandchildren and we couldn't afford to cruise when my adult children were younger. I love watching families interact on a cruise vacation and I marvel at the wonderful memories they are making. As I've gotten older I've become much more tolerant of children and almost every other inconvenience. seems like some posters are the opposite. One thing we all have in common is that we once were children. Now I know some here will tell us how well behaved tey were and how strict their parents were and all that old folk kind of stuff. I like cruising with folks of different ages and backgrounds. It really helps to enrich my vacation.

pba20493 Posted August 21, 2008 #44 Share Posted August 21, 2008 Yes I want to punch them because screaming in someones ear is very rude. I feel the same way about the drunks too cruizinmom. It seems they are always at the craps table. Thank god I dont play craps. I dont go to disney ( $75 just to walk in the door ) Id rather keep that money and book another cruise. What I want to know is why do people that like kids dislike the people that dont like kids. Isnt it better to be honest and say you dont want to have them or be around them. I say thats nice that you like them, just dont push them off on me. Tim

pba20493 Posted August 21, 2008 #46 Share Posted August 21, 2008 I did something one day at the Hard Rock card room in Tampa. I won a pot at the poker table. Nobody had anything so it was like a $6 pot. I stood up and screamed " YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I won $6 " the whole room laughed their butts off. Thats what I always say when the crap table erupts, " hey someone won $2, look at that ". The dealers usually just chuckle as they really shouldn't laugh that hard because they know its true. :D Tim

I just don't understand them... and I feel sorry for them... I sorta understand not wanting the lifetime responsibility of being a parent.. but to dislike the wonder and amazement of a child, to not enjoy their joy, to forget the world that was yours when you knew no boundaries makes me sad for you. dan40 Posted August 21, 2008 #48 Share Posted August 21, 2008 How many people here would love to book a cruise without any children on it? Say, above 25 years old only. I think it would be cool! A cruise that is decade specific would be fun too. Those born in the 40's or 50's or 60's or 70's or 80's What do you all think?:p Regular "Adults Only" non-"lifestyle" cruises have been tried by cruiselines before. NEVER successfully. They ARE done today but only with chartered ships and they always feature some "lifestyle." Carnival started out as essentially an adults only "party boat." But they have become a "Family" line because that's where the money is. Remember, the PEAK cruising season IS the summer months when the kids are out of school. The cold months when kids are in school is the LOW cruising season. So cold weather up north and few kids on board means low prices. Doesn't make a bit of sense, but that is how it is. Either that, or some anger management courses. :) I don't dislike people who dislike kids. I just add them to my list of "DEFINITELY NO" for babysitting. :) My kids on the other hand . . . THEY dislike people who dislike kids. That is why they splash you in the pool, pee in the hot tub, push all the buttons on the elevator and scream in your ear. :D By the way, we just booked the Miracle on the same sailing as you!
