mkg Posted April 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Can anyone tell me anything about the 3 or 4 day cruise. I am looking to take my 84 yr old Mom and my 78 year old Aunt on a 3 or 4 day, and my TA said that she recommended a 4 day because for 1- its about the same price and 2- there would be more partiers on the 3 day. They have never been on a cruise and I know I will be attached at the hip with them, but I really want them to have a great experience, who knows if or when they'll ever get another chance. So I would really like some opinions good or bad please. The only reason I was going with a 3 day was because my Moms balance isn't the greatest and I'm afraid it might be too long for her, I'm not worried about my aunt at all, and both of them are VERY hard of hearing, my aunt is worse than my mom! Sirknight Posted April 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2004 mkg- This September we're taking our moms (early 70's) on the Sovereign to celebrate Dw's 50th and DD's 18th birthdays. We LOVE the Sovereign, and the 4-night is just perfect! I have a review of our cruise last October posted in the community section. Feel free to e-mail if you have any questions -Chris Sovereign 10/03 Until our 9/27/04 Sovereign Cruise
mkg Posted April 13, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Thanks for your reply, and the review, it was great. Did you have a formal night if so when was it? Funny, the date we are thinking of going is 10/18 which seems to be when you went last year. Still deciding on if we are going, they need to make up their minds, then its weather an inside or outside. w&k Posted April 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2004 mkg- You just gave me a wistful trip down memory lane... I took my dear Mother on the Sovereign on a 4-day cruise that turned out to be exactly one month before she passed away from cancer. She was 74, and I also flew out her oldest girlfriend from Idaho to go as well - they were young rips together in the 1940-50's. I towed my two 70+ 'girls' around the ship for four days, and they enjoyed every minute. We found that was the safest way for them to navigate because neither was too steady. Please take them on this trip...it will give you a memory to cherish always. I'll be thinking about you & wishing you a wonderful time! Wendy ps my husband chickened out of going, too! Sirknight Posted April 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2004 mkg- Formal night is the night in Nassau-we did the "dress-up" thing (tux for me, gown for DW) and had a ball! -Chris Sovereign 10/03 Until our 9/27/04 Sovereign Cruise
mkg Posted April 13, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Thank you Wendy, after reading your message, it makes me want to do this even more. I just have to get confirmation from both of them. At least I will have till August to cancel if they chicken out. If anyone, I think my Mom will be real nervous and afraid about her Dr's not being around. But I'm hoping for the amount of time we will be gone, she will be fine. Thanks again Sirknight, thanks for your reply, it will be much easier to pack for a 4 day cruise then a 7 day. I always bring way too much. so this time I think I'll pack conservative. My agent is right now holding a cabin for us till I speak with both of them tomorrow.
