Are there any places that sell green coffee beans?

NOt much coffee (and no good coffee) in that area. The best coffees are grown in the central valley (near the capital, San Jose).

You can get unroasted beans, but it is not easy. Doka, the best known of the quality plantations, doesn't offer them, but if you ask, they will sell them (at least I got 5 kg last time I was there).

That said, green beans properly stored last a long time. I have found no difference in green beans purchased stateside and ones purchased where grown.

Any issues with bringing them back to the US green? Didn't know if they counted as an agricultural product.

I would love to know of a source for them when we go back to CR in 2010 - my father also roasts his own beans and would love to bring some back for him. He's a big fan of sweetmarias as well.

I do know the roasted Tarrazu I brought back last year was my favorite coffee ever - probably because it wasn't dark roasted like so much you get here. :D
