tinkerme1 Posted August 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2008 This is just an FYI for all those who have booked a Specialty Restaurant online with RCCL. I went to pay my final payment today, and requested the payoff figures for my upcoming Mariner cruise. My TA told me the numbers, which I compared with my invoice. It was $50 higher than it should have been. It seems that RCCL, with all their website issues, charged me the $50 Specialty Restaurant charge (a second time) with the final payment! We did straighten out the issue with the help of RCI, but thought it would be good to advise all of you to check your final payment numbers BEFORE you make it, since you have already paid for the Specialty Restaurant booking online when you made the booking! PH8 Posted August 30, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2008 Thats why it is really important to get an updated booking confirmation every time you add or change something...........
tinkerme1 Posted August 30, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted August 30, 2008 PH8: I usually get a confirmation every time something gets added or changed, but I haven't added anything to my "booking" so the $50 should never have been there in the first place. When you book a Specialty Restaurant, you pay for it online with a credit card. It should never have been added to my "booking"! You are right though, you should always check your invoice before paying final payment! That is what saved me a lot of trying to fix the problem. Because your invoice LISTS everything you purchase for the cruise. So all your shore excursions etc are listed on there. You need to calculate what was paid on your credit card and it should all add up to the total amount including the shore excursions and/or specialty restaurants. tinkerme1 Posted August 30, 2008 Author #9 Share Posted August 30, 2008 Sue L: For the TA's, I believe everything that you have included will show up, both on the invoice and the "My Cruises". The problem is that MY TA wanted to charge me for what was showing up on the Invoice, when I had already PAID the charge online when I booked. That would mean that RCI would be charging me twice for the same thing. BTW, my TA called RCI, and they did say that it was NOT supposed to show up on my Invoice. cruisenfever Posted August 30, 2008 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2008 When we did our SA cruise on Splendour in March we booked all of our excursions online and paid for them by CC. When we got our final invoice..........shore excursion charges were listed........but not included in the final total due. Same thing happened when we did Ultimate Alaska on Radiance last September. Pre-booked excursions..............paid for them with CC.........and they also appeared on the final invoice but were not included in the final total due. tinkerme1 Posted August 30, 2008 Author #11 Share Posted August 30, 2008 Patti: Excursions are usually handled okay. The Specialty Restaurant bookings are new to RCI and they even admitted to making a mistake. Just for the record, I posted this in hopes that everyone who booked a SR will be careful when paying their "final payment".

Hamburg Avon Lady Posted August 31, 2008 #13 Share Posted August 31, 2008 Just wondering - can I book shore excursions online and charge them to my OBC account?? I was told that I could not use OBC to pay for shore excursions, either. Is this correct?? If so, then I will have a lot of spa treatments, trips to the casino not to mention the ship's stores. You cant use that OBC till you're on the ship(OBC=ON BOARD credit)........if you want to wait to book an excursion once on the ship, then yes, the OBC can help pay for it............ If you want to make sure you get the excursion ahaed of time, then no,you have to pay with your CC....
