In Room Blender

I do not consider this or any cruise we have done " on the cheap ". We have a suite and bring our 2 kids 7 and 17 with us. We do purchase drinks on the ship and do excursions as well as air fare, and that does not include the stuff we buy on the ship and ashore. If I choose to smuggle my alcohol and have a couple of drinks in my cabin prior to dinner that is my choice. We are not the people that get hammered and stagger around the ship. We always tip our cabin steward more than the regular. We also bring them gifts wich we give them the first day. They are all hard working people and we appreciate what they do. We talk to them about where they are from and their families.

DW buys the smoothie drink mixes you get in foil bags (like the kids drinks )you can get them in all kind of flavors. Fill bullet 1/3 full of ice, add 1 shot of tequilla or rum 1/4 of the mix the rest with water and blend. Yes it blends it smooth. Your cup is what you blend it in. Turn it over, add rim cap and enjoy. No blender to clean. By the way it won't trip or overload any breaker on the ship. Never had a steward even look twice at it either. We do leave our alcohol out on the table and have called steward to bring us more ice if we ran out while making, and yes we do tip for this.I'm not cheap !;)

Folks, chill out! If you've read other threads about items being taken away you'd know that if the room steward sees a blender in the cabin they might take it because it could be considered a hazard or overload the breaker. If you don't know this, household appliances take a lot of electricity to run. I can't even use my microwave and have a kellte of water boiling at the same time from the same plug because it overloads the circuit!!!!!

I just scratch my head at some of the items people want to bring with them, and I thought bringing my wee baby tripod was strange!!!!! (I'm not brining it this time). I have to travel quite a distance to port, so I can pack what I need and that is all, and now that one checked bag is all that is allowed I have to bring even less....

If you like to drink, sure, smuggle it onboard, but your on holidays, enjoy yourself and spend a few bucks instead of going on the cheap. I can go twice a year (three times next year) and when I go I am prepared to spend. I am a woman, ergo, I like to shop, and I really like to shop. I also don't go to the casino's at home and usually onthe ship I am more than happy to donate because I am on holidays and I am there to spend money....

No, I am not rich, I have to take a good chunk of money from each pay to afford to cruise, but I do it willingly because I know I will have a good time.

My only frivoulous item I bring is picture of my two boys (aka my cats...). Oh, yea, and this time I'll bring an empty water bottle because it's wee difficult to carry a glass with you everywhere you go......

Don't go away mad--just go away. ;)

Well now, I think the mixture for the magic bullet is one shot concentrate (loving the strawberry banana), two shots rum, two thirds filled with ice, water to almost the top of the individual mug, blend until smoth. Yes, no ice chunks, just plain old smooth. The kids love them also, minus the alcohol. We also use the Magic Bullet with fresh (hm, wonder how much fruit I can get from the Lido deck) or frozen fruit (and again the lovely alcohol for the ones that hold themselves out to be adults) and add pineapple juice and/or orange juice. Hadn't planned on bringing the Magic Bullet this trip, was going for the shaker instead. But, have using the Magic Bullet tonight, and last night, and the night before, I even went so far as to bring the "Miracle" shotglass out so as to make sure the mixture was right. So, now I am thinking since I have pretty much perfected the drink, the Magic Bullet will need to be packed. Counting the days until the Spirit departs!

Now that all baggage is being x-rayed and and the contract specifically states "no household goods" I am sure it would be conmfiscated and not returned

b) No tools of trade, household goods, presents and/or property of others, jewelry, money, cameras, documents, valuables of any description including but not limited to such articles as are described in Title 46 of the United States Code section 30503 shall be carried except under and subject to the terms of a special written contract or Bill of Lading entered into with Carnival prior to embarkation upon application of the Guest. The Guest warrants that no such articles are contained in any receptacle or container presented by him as baggage hereunder, and if any such articles are shipped in the Guest’s baggage in breach of this warranty, no liability for negligence, gross or ordinary, shall attach to Carnival for any loss or damage thereto.

I'm no lawyer, but it seems like they're saying you can't put those items in your checked luggage, and that if you do, Carnival is not liable for loss or damage. Obviously, they don't mean you can't bring a camera, money, jewelry or documents!

Wrong.

Household goods are specifically prohibited. So all of you who were coming down on that poor previous poster for what seemed like a very innocent post can just shove off. I can't believe how mean you guys were. Geez.

Household goods are specifically prohibited.

Those household items which are specifically prohibited are explicitly noted. They go to great lengths to specify irons, knives, ham radios, animals, musical instruments, VCRs, Nintendos, firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, tasers/stun guns, pepper spray/mace, telescopic batons, martial arts throwing stars and flails, handcuffs, brass knuckles, compressed gas, and others.

If they'd have had a problem with blenders, I think they'd have said so.

But please feel free to leave all of your household goods at home (curling iron, hair dryer, electric razor, camera) as well as your tools of trade (laptop, blackberry, etc.).

Better have that wiring checked in our home. The range runs on 220 volts and micro waves for the majority of them are 110. There is no way they are going to be on the same breaker.
