lucia1024 Posted September 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2008 I am taking a 6 day cruise on the Star and was wondering if there is just one formal night or two. Those are usually lobster nights. My DH looks forward to those lobsters!! We like it even better when we don't have to pay an extra fee in the specialty restaurants. Thanks for your info. DAGVBSB Posted September 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2008 There are NO mandatory formal nights on any NCL ship. They do have "Dress up or Not" Nights, as they call them. On those nights, about 50% of the passengers will dress up and that will range from very few tuxes down to shirt/tie. The other 50% will be in resort casual. Resort Casual is acceptable EVERY night in EVERY dining venue. (polo shirts, kahki or dockers pants and tennis shoes or sandals.). No shorts or t-shirts allowed in the dining rooms after 5:00 p.m. (they are allowed in buffet and Blue Lagoon). Jeans are also allowed in all dining venues EVERY night except for one designated main dining room. That is the joy of Freestyle Cruising, the ability to dress as you want. If you want to dress up, then go for it and enjoy. If you want to leave the dress clothes at home and just dress casual, then go for it and enjoy. Either way you will not be out of place in any dining room on any night.
