D.P. Roberts Posted September 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2008 I've been reading lost of threads about dining options, and it seems like many ships serve cold, "hit or miss" buffets. Does any one ship stand out as having the best buffet in Alaska?
Assateague Island Princes Posted September 4, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2008 I highly recommend HAL. We've sailed on the Oosterdam twice to Alaska and the food in the Lido (buffet) was outstanding both times! They even have "dining room" service now. You stand in line to get your salad, soup, appetizers, etc., then place your order of the entrees available. A waiter carries your tray to your table, you begin to nosh and they bring your entree to the table - linens on the table, candles, etc. Very nice! We just loved the food on Oosterdam, both in the dining room (though we only ate there twice on this past June cruise), we were just very happy with the casual atmosphere (think: jeans and nice tops) rather than dressing up, and the service was impeccable. To each his own, I suppose, but this was our experience. Have a great time whichever line you decide to cruise on. Enjoy the great land of Alaska - its awesome! PS - HAL has THE best beds in the world!:)
