You will disembark to clear immigration, but it's painless. When properly organized, you get off, go thru the line and return (if you wish) to the ship. Stop by the purser's desk the day before. They will have detailed instructions for you in addition to your new boarding cards for week two.

We are doing the same b2b looking forward to the two weeks, but wondering still about which islands and in what order for the second week. Makes it hard to line up "independent" tours. Have you heard anything specific about Dominica vs Grenada as our anticipated port. Still shows Grenada, but under the impression they are still going to Dominica. I don't really care when one, but would like to plan ahead.

We did b2b last March/April on the Dawn Princess round trip out of San Juan. We did NOT have to get off the ship on "turn around day". (Maybe if others have it was because our previous port was St. Thomas?) You are a passenger in transit. Frequently they give you a card to carry ashore saying you are in transit and you need both cruise cards - old to get off and new to get back on. (We did not get off the ship that day so don't know what they actually did in San Juan.)

They will give you a letter prior to the end of the first cruise telling you exactly what to do. IF we wanted to go ashore we were told to meet at a certain time to leave the ship - during everyone else's disembarkation. After that time you were free to come and go as you pleased. They will give you new cruise cards and you will have to take them down and get another picture taken where you enter the ship. We arrived at 11:30 and got right on with no lines any where.

We did a b2b on the Golden a few weeks ago. In San Juan we didn't have to go on shore for immigration - it was done on board the ship. We were given a passenger in transit card. If we wanted to be off the ship in the morning it had to be by 8.45 am, otherwise we had to stay on until all passengers had disembarked.

We decided to stay on board. Disembarkation was finished by about 11.30 am and we were then free to come and go as we liked as long as we showed our new cruise cards and the passenger in transit card.

You will receive information prior to reaching San Juan as to what the procedures will be.
