CdnCruzrs Posted September 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2008 In 2006, on route to our cruise from Miami Airport, we were told by various taxi drivers that a law had just been passed that children riding in taxis needed a carseat. We had no idea of this law and were taken by surprise by it. We had to go through a few drivers before we could find one to take us to the pier. We had the same hassle after our cruise, when we were going back to the airport. Does anyone know what the specifics are on this law, or where I could find some information? It is law in our Province/State to have proper carseats for children from birth to 8 years old in private vehicles, but commercial vehicles, such as taxis and buses do not require children to be in carseats. The search feature has been down the last 2 days, so I apologize in advance if the subject has already been addressed. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks! CdnCruzrs Posted September 10, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted September 10, 2008 Marlissa - Thanks so much! That information was exactly what I was looking for. Every country has different regulations, so I wanted to make sure we were prepared this time. We'll definitely have a carseat for our DS, or make sure a carservice provides one if we don't use a taxi. Our DD is 7 years, so the regulation doesn't apply to her. On a previous cruise, we were transported by bus to the pier, and since there were no seatbelts, you couldn't use carseats. We also were forbidden to use a carseat on our airline, and I felt really uneasy holding my 8-month-old DS at the time. I kept thinking about that movie "Fearless", where a woman held her baby during a plane crash with tragic results. The good thing is that laws are changing and airlines are now starting to allow certain restraints. Thanks again for the link!:D:D
