CheepWrent Posted September 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2008 Needing any reports of substantial damage. Tried to look around on the boards, but couldn't find anything so I am hoping that they made it thru ok! Thank you for any info!
njoyndride Posted September 7, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2008 Emailed with some people there last Monday and all is well on Grand Cayman...had some tree limb clean up and that was about it. Little Cayman and Cayman Brac faired a little worse with power lines down and flooding.
drew sailbum Posted September 7, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 7, 2008 Grand Cayman largely escaped substantial damage from the passing of Gustav. There were assorted power lines down and a few broken power poles. All major outages were repaired within hours. Any remaining residential outages were taken care of by the day following. There was damage to some docks which will take longer to repair. The dock at Rum Point is still not usable and there is still damage to the dock at one of the hotels in East End. KenMo Posted September 7, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 7, 2008 I emailed Sharon Ebanks of Nativeway about damage at Rum Point. Here's her response: Hi Mona, Rum Point did sustain some damage in the hurricane. However, it was not destroyed. The dock only was badly damaged. In fact, we did get the opportunity to use Rum Point one day last week. The dock is expected to be repaired this upcoming week. We plan to bring our guests to Rum Point again, starting Monday, September 8. I would greatly appreciate it if you would correct the rumor. Thank you.
