We've been to Mullet Bay Beach, We're looking for nice calm waters and no drop off. Can anyone give a review of Divi Beach . How far is it from where the ship docks? How much does it cost totaxi to divi from the ship vs the cost in taking the ships excursion to divi. What are food prices at Divi. Is there shoppong at Divi?

Are there any other beaches that have calm waters and nice powdery soft sand?

Don't think we'll do mullet bay again, even though it was nice but a little too rough for our liking.

Divi has a drop off and the sand is not as nice as Mullet, Orient or the others.

I also think that Maho has quiet a drop off as well compared to Orient or Mullet. Anse Marcel is far but might fit the bill and Pinel Island is another beautiful spot with a gentle slope and calm water.

We loved Divi...cab was $4/pp each way. Not sure of the food prices...chairs and umbrellas were $5 each. A few little stores at the resort was all we saw...but the guys were happy...beers were 6/$10 in the little mini mart there...what a deal :D The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all...it was our favorite beach so far :)

Where is little Divi? Are there bathroom facilities?

Divi is at Little Bay which is near Great Bay which has the beach with the boardwalk near the shopping right in Phillipsburg. There is a resort with washroom facilities at Divi. The view is lovely and it is a good place to go if you have an excursion or go shopping for the other part of your day since it is very convenient to the port. I have read another thread though that says Divi is no longer accepting day visitors.

Le Gallion near Orient is known for its gentle dropoffs and calm waters. It is on the French side however which means you might see topless women, which shouldn't bother small kiddies.

Oh, the common mis-conceptions about Sint Maarten / St. Martin. French side, Dutch side - DOESN'T MATTER, this is a European-connected island, which means the European attitude that there's nothing wrong with seeing womens' breasts is the norm. As to complete nudity, that is almost entirely "restricted" to certain French side beaches (the Club Orient end of Orient beach being the most famous, the others are far more discreet), along with the far end of Cupecoy (where it approaches the French border).

Even the highly-recommended Dawn Beach, by Oyster Bay Beach Resort, will have exposed breasts. Big deal. Unless someone is a Muslim and believes that stuff about a man going to hell if he sees a naked woman's body other than his own wife's, you've got nothing to worry about!

We were able to walk very far out and still touch at Le Gallion. The walk out was very easy. Water was competely calm when we were there last week. It is protected by a reef.
