2VaCruzers Posted April 14, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2004 I just wanted to thank you for the phone number you posted a while back for Navigator. We were on the April 3rd sailing and it worked perfectly for both my children. They are both in college and it certainly put me at ease when they could call to say everything was ok and that the house was still standing!! I have to say, though, we were pleasantly surprised when we had cell phone service while we were in Grand Caymen. DH has AT&T and we noticed that there was a huge store there. Maybe that has something to do w/ it. It was the only place on the western itinerary we had service. Of course we took advantage and called all our relatives who were sitting in cold rainy weather. Now that we're back, I'm sitting in that same dreary midatlantic weather. Oh to be back on the NOS. Again...thanks. PARNAMI Posted April 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2004 I am surprised that this number is still active. Last time the number was given out, word I received was that all numbers were changed and crew members cited, possibly dismissed, for having released it. I can't believe it's been made public AGAIN!!! Remember the number is NOT a free number and is provided as a curtesy to crew members and their families so they may stay in touch. It is not, and never was intended to be used by passengers. The costs to RCI and to the individual ships are significant and impact the bonuses of senior on board staff who are charged with running efficient operations. I think somebody's going to be fired!!! No wonder RCI sees a need to implement fees for Johnny Rockets on Navigator..they need to make up the money lost by unapproved ship to shore to ship phone calls!
