PEI driving question

Hi. We will be in Charlottetown Oct 7, from 8am to 5pm. We would like to rent a car, and see the island on our own. On the PEI website there are 3 separate drives. 1)North Cape, 2)Blue Heron(mid island), and 3)Points East. I'm pretty sure that circling the entire island couldn't be done in the short time we will be there. I assume that most of the historic sites are in Charlottetown, and we definitely want to see those. Of the three drives, is there one that is the most scenic? I guess that we could spend 4-5 hours on the drive, and still have time to see the historic sites. Am I biting off more than I can chew?

Thanks in advance!

You're right, driving around the coast of the whole Island would entail several hundred miles and not doable in one day. Of the three scenic drives you mention the shortest, at 123 miles, is the Blue Heron drive and I would suggest you do it. All the drives are equally scenic, each has something unique to offer but with the Blue Heron Drive you'll see the most and the most popular in the least amount of time.
