Carnival Holiday and Ice Chest

I am wanting to pack some water on ice for our 5 day cruise since there isn't an ice box in the cabins, but Carnival said that all I can bring is a 12x12x12 ice chest. Has anyone else brought an ice chest and what size did you bring? If I brought one on rollers, would they let me take it on? I also want to bring a few cokes. They said I could bring a 6 pack. :(

The exterior dimensions on ice chest (including any rollers) is 12x12x12 and they seem to be pretty strict on that. Nothing prevents you from bringing a soft, fol-up ice chest in your luggage - unfold and ask room steward to keep full of ice. You can easily bring a 6- or 8-pack of sodas/waters per person as carry-on. Reports are that some curbside porters have refused tagged, wrapped cases of sodas/waters and others allow. ken

This past cruise was the first time we have taken on any water (8) and soda (8) with us. We decided afterwards, never again. The small additional expense of not having to lug the extra bulk around is worth it to us.

My suggestions for you would be this. . . Instead of bringing a cooler on board, just ask your room steward for an extra ice bucket and keep a few beverages at a time on ice. Or bring a travel cup to drink ice water out of from the Lido deck and then purchase a fountain card for your soda.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the information!!!! I am thinking a soft side might would be nice to have on board!;)

We always take a soft sided cooler in our luggage. Tip the cabin steward a few bucks and ask him to keep it full of ice. We always store the cooler in the bathroom due to condensation/leakage, etc. Of course the balcony (if you happen to have one) is even better.
