CrazyA Posted September 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2008 I prefer not to take a DVD player. What kind of channels are available ie. PBS, Noggin, Disney Channel, Nick Jr.? We will be on the carnival freedom 11/30/08 with my twin boys - 2yro & DD - 6yro.
crusinmama06 Posted September 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2008 We have never needed to run the DVD player in the cabin. We can always find something on. Carnival uses a satelite to get a few Denver stations. We were always able to find some kind of kids programming on. Some was in Spanish...lol...which put an interesting new spin on Dora. ;)
kitty9 Posted September 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2008 Cruise ships don't have channels like PBS or Disney. A lot of what they show depends on where you're cruising. I noticed that the Cartoon Channel was in Spanish a lot of the time.

Unless you cruise on Disney, THEN you get the Disney channel...lol. ;) And I thought on Carnival they did have "The Cartoon Network". But the commercials were in Spanish. mcfam5 Posted September 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2008 Carnival definitely has The Cartoon Network. We have never encountered the shows being in spanish but many of the commercials are. They also have a few movies that run around the clock and change each day. One of those movies are USUALLY family/child friendly ~ depending on the age of your child. I know recently they were showing Cheaper By the Dozen 2 and Son of the Mask, if that gives you an idea as to the movie type. They are definitely not new releases. mandyq Posted September 26, 2008 #6 Share Posted September 26, 2008 We did take a portable DVD player for our 2 and 4 year old. They do have cartoon network but I didn't feel like the shows were always appropriate for our children. We only used it a few times though. mcfam5 Posted September 26, 2008 #7 Share Posted September 26, 2008 . . . we take our laptop when we travel and one of the ways we use it is as a DVD player if the need arises. :o)
