Customs/Security

How strict is security going through customs in progreso. On my last cruise, in Jamaica they had people there with metal detectors etc. I have a pacemaker so it is not as easy as walking through a metal detector and they can not use a wand so i have to be patted down. I showed her my card in Jamaica and she wanted to know what i had under my bathing suit strap i said nothing and she pulled it and snapped it, then itold her she was seeing my pacemaker. They finally let me through. In Grand Cayman i just walked through an empty run down building that said customs and got on the ship, and in Cozumel i just had to show the guards my passport and no problem. On the ship i would tell them i had a pacemaker and they just let me go around the metal detector.

So does progreso usually have people there?

I've never had a problem with mine. Reminded me that it's almost time to replace mine. Two port calls in Progreso and three two week vacations to Merida and the Yucatan. Security at Merida airport are very understanding. And now I have a new hip. lol
