if we want to take a taxi to a beach with a massage that is nice, where would we go (if we port in progresso)? Optimally with shopping somehow afterwards?

You can walk 2 blocks north from the Casa de Cultura (where the shuttle from the ship drops you off ) to the beach where there a lot of massage tables set up. You can see a map of Progreso here: http://www.yucatantoday.com/maps/eng-progreso-map.htm

We just returned and the beach is only a few short blocks from the open air market where the free shuttles deposit you. We had a map but really didn't even use it. It is very easy to find. Massage tables are plentiful. We got one for $10 for 40 minutes. We walked aways down to Buddy's and I think they were $20 for 1 hour. Places to shop are everywhere. The open air market is quite large and on your way to the beach and along the beach you will find many vendors.

Munchkin4 --or anyone else that's been. My mom has COPD -which makes her very out of breath in a very short walking distance. Can you take a taxi? And would it be a better area for massage/beach and lunch to go to Buddy's. Thanks for any info or suggestions.

There are plenty of taxis at the Casa de Cultura whcih can take you along the malecon. Have them drive you along it and pick your spot!
