StLucia Posted September 30, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2008 We are going on our first pando cruise on Ventura in just over 3 weeks time, really looking forward to it but unsure about tipping. We are on club dining. Do they leave envelopes in the cabin at the end of the cruise like RCI? Are there recommended amounts? Which staff are you expected to tip? Thank you in anticipation of your help.

StLucia Posted September 30, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted September 30, 2008 Hi Humpy, thank you for your very quick response. Are these envelopes provided for this purpose or just for general letter writing?
humpy Posted September 30, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2008 the envelopes are just for general use in the information pack with some writing paper and a couple of free post cards with the ship on..humpy..
BrianI Posted September 30, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2008 Your steward will make sure you get a couple of envelopes in your cabin and a tipping guide around 3 days from the end of your cruise. Payment is in cash so take some with you. In the Caribbean, this can be either US$ or sterling or a mixture. Don't think the staff mind as long as they get it. This is what the P&O website says First of all, please do not worry about it. Who, when and how much you tip is at your discretion. Tips are usually given in cash at the end of your holiday to your stateroom Steward, Restaurant Stewards in the Club Dining restaurants, and to any other staff who you feel you wish to reward. The amount you tip is entirely up to you although, as a guide, we recommend a total amount per person (aged 12 and over) of £3.75 per day, which covers all staff who have looked after you during your holiday. The only exception to this is for passengers travelling on Oceana and Ventura who have opted to enjoy the flexibility of Freedom Dining as, with this style of dining, you may be seated at a different table and served by a different waiter on each occasion. We will therefore add an automatic service charge of £1.60 per passenger, per day to your shipboard account for the Restaurant Stewards. You will, of course, be able to increase or decrease this charge at your discretion by visiting Reception at any point during your cruise. You can also tip any other staff, including your stateroom Steward, as you feel appropriate. Further details of who and when you should tip can be found in your stateroom. StLucia Posted September 30, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted September 30, 2008 Thank you both for your help. Tipping in $ will be useful as we are sure to have some over. I think we will follow pando guidelines, that seems fair. If you have room service is it normal to tip at that stage as well?

Pontius Navigator Posted September 30, 2008 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2008 A gratuities box will appear in the self-service buffet on the last two days of the cruise should you feel that you wish to tip here to. I find it odd that P&O only stipulate a tip amount for room and dining-room.
