"New" booking credits

We've already booked a cruise for April. I've received an e-mail about the $200 on board credit for this cruise for new bookings only. It's even in the fine print that you can't cancel and re-book to get the credit. Has anyone managed to get the "new booking" price adjustment and/or on-board credit even though they had already booked? Does complaining about it work? Just looking for ideas on how others may have managed to get the credit. I am feeling a little frustrated that I'll be paying more (or in this case not getting an on-board credit) because I booked early. I guess the trick is not to book early and wait for the deals. (Of course, with kids in school that doesn't really work for us!)
