Do you overeat on a cruise?????

GKM, I remember posting to a thread about gaining weight on a cruise. I mentioned that I didn't over eat, we don't even eat desserts, took the stairs,(only down though because I smoke) :D walked miles to the cabin and I still gained a few pounds. Someone finally mentioned drinks. Yep, that was it. Pink drinks in the afternoon, possibly even one before lunch at the pool bar. A drink before dinner. Drinks in various lounges. Drinks while in the casino. A nightcap in the cabin.

I also eat very sensibly and just couldn't figure it out. Duh :D

What I so is order everything that interests me and have a little of each (but get full as I consume). So on Losbter night I will order two portions and the Steak, but won't be able to finish. Then I order desert just to taste if I am full - same for the cheese trolley. By the way, does Celebrity have a cheese trolley or just serve a cheese platter at meals end?

how can you gain weight. Unfortunately for me, I swelled up after surgery to remove a cantelope sized tumor attached to my ovaries & tubes. I call it the IT CURSE. But doc states I will get back to my normal size. All the drugs to assist with the surgical menopause did it. Now I am off them & ready to party.

As far as overeating, not really, when I am full that is it. Some nights I eat all the appetizers to get all the flavors, presentation, total enjoyment. Lobster night I am ready with a salad as I hate potatoes. Lunch is usually a well dressed salad, or a specialty meal for the place we are at. Some really good, so not very liked. You will never see me with a hot dog, as I get deathly ill from them & bologna. Breakfast is the boring meal as eggs do nothing for me, some omelettes I've ordered even when I state I want everything in them seem to have nothing but scrambled eggs. But the fruit smoothies do the trick! Geat idea to fill up.

Enjoy high tea when it is presented. So glad it isn't daily as that gets to be boring. Love the usic as we sip. So relaxing. The canapes we've had we not that bad as some have satated. Maybe cause we were in when they were delivered with cappucino. Maybe others have the delivered & they sit & get stale. That is bad....

So we are getting there, on with 27 days to go.........

Seriously,when cruising,we quickly adapt to a meal-every-two-hour schedule which is hard to break once we reach homeland!

I do exercise more than usual to help fight off the pounds as well as use the stairs whenever possible.It's amazing how much going up & down the stairs will work you out.

I also personally try to avoid the starches & breads so when I return,I've usually only gained water weight which is shedded in a few days.

I eat better, but not more. As a single, I don't like to cook, so I graze. I'm nearly a vegetarian, so limiting carbs is difficult at home, but on a cruise ship, I dine royally: fish twice a day! Leave out the white stuff (rice, pasta, potato, bread) and no sauces. So much fresh fruit and vegs prepared just right. I eat! Yet, I generally lose weight. But then I never use the elevators, love walking the decks early morning, after dark. Sometimes, I look around and I seem to have the whole ship to myself. Isn't that a hoot?

And I thought I was the only one who 'dieted' aboard a ship!Seems that lots of you have figured out the best diet ever. Go on a cruise.

One wish. That the chocolate and other midnight buffets were lunch so I could enjoy them. Crystal did that on Harmony in '99. Oh well, the chocolate on my pillow is more than I 'need'. :D

Eating is part of the cruise. Stuff I don't cook at home I enjoy on my vacation. The clue is WALK! Stairs instead of elevator, after dinner a romantic walk around the promenade deck a few times to enjoy the wake, the quite, the stars, other folks doing the same. In the morning after breakfst you will find us out walking, at excursions we walk & not slow but power walking to see more.

So we don't worry about weight gain....... there usually isn't any.

I always eat too much on the first day at the buffet lunch. It makes me feel so miserable, I am more careful for the rest of the time. It helps to have lunch and/ or breakfast in the dining room. Time permitted. We are usually so busy running here and there in port. And then on sea days we do a lot of swimming and walking all around the ship. I actually lost 15 pounds on my 17 night cruise on the Mercury! And I was eating desserts! :)

Okay, whoever you are, I officially hate you! You LOST 15 pounds? I always gain 11 pounds on a 10 to 14 night cruise! No matter what I do! I do lowcarb all the time except on sjips, but I don't think I could bear it on a ship! I love the cold soups, the bread sticks, the desserts and the martinis!! :D

NEWTOCC!!!! I am laughing so hard at your post. That was very funny. I must remind myself to tell my husband that one. Actually that might work well even at home....I love it!!!!!!!

Last years 11 days cruise I lost 1. 5 pounds.
This year - I gained about 4.

You cant win....all I know is the food is so good........God I wish I was on a ship right now.

Well, okay, I guess thar's fair. I always lose mine. Usually takes two weeks but I get it off! It's just I've worked so hard these last 14 months (with slight lapses for x cruises) to lose 80 pounds and keep it off! Oh well, we all have our crosses, yada, yada! :)
