Bar credits question

Most standard drinks [scotch and water, for example] cost the same as the value of one coupon. A more expensive drink [martini, for example] will cost the coupon plus whatever amount above the "value" of the coupon. Many people buy the coupons as a way to manage their bills. No great financial advantage [other than saving the money you'd "tip"]

Right on Jim,just personal preference Id just do the card and also if you tip the bartender good he will put more alcohol and maybe freebies as well I tipped $20.00 and went to the same bartender when he was on duty and boy I got some strong drinks and free ones too!!;)

Drink coupons:

$21.25 for 4 coupons includes 15% tip. Works out to about $4.60 per drink + 15% tip. This is close to the price of beers and Drinks of the Day and less than the price of fancy drinks or name-brand liquors. If you’re drinking beer or DOD’s it comes out pretty even. If you order more expensive drinks, the waiters are supposed to charge the difference to your S&S card, but they sometimes do and sometimes don’t; if they don’t, then you come out ahead. We found that the drink cards weren’t worth the hassle of keeping track of them and (maybe) still handing over the S&S card for the difference! You can check drink prices at SeaUOnboard.com under Cruising 101 in left border. ken

The drink coupons were delivered to our cabin... but I have heard on this board from others that their server gave them their drink coupons during your first dinner.

I personally think the fun dollars is the best way to go you for those who don't trust their money management skills by wanting to pay in advance.

Issues with drink coupons are:

1) Remembering to bring them along.

2) No refund in difference if drinks or beer valued less that the stated drink coupon value.

3) Made of paper, so easy to wreck if they get wet... have to keep them dry.

4) You lose them, they are not replaceable.

5) If you don't use all by end of cruise, they are not refundable.

6) You pay additional amount over the coupon drink price.

Issues with using Sail & Sign card:

None.

Benefits of using Sail & Sign card:

1) Lose your card and it's easily replaced.

2) You can swim with it, or get wet with it.

3) Lower priced drinks are charged at the lower price.

4) No "Left over" coupons.

5) Your S&S card is your cabin key, so you always have it available to you.

6) You can view every purchase, listed by date and time, on your cabin TV.

I've done the paper drink coupons, and in hind sight saw less value to them compared to just using your S&S card.

The reason drink coupons are offered is to allow your family and frinds to purchase you a couple drinks on your cruise as a gift, even though they will not be cruising with you.
