Nancy&Frank Posted April 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Can any recent Galaxy travelers let me know if the hair dryers are powerful enough? I have very thick hair that needs heavy duty air - do I need to take along my own blower? Thanks for the input
MISSYLOU Posted April 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I have not been on Galaxy but have been on Mercury, Summit and Infinity and I can tell you that the dryers are pretty lame. They have worked just fine for me as long as my hair was cut short and in layers. But now that it is a tad longer it took forever to dry last month while one Mercury. I plan on taking my own dryer on Galaxay. I believe the only exception to the dryers is if you have a Concierge cabin where two dryers are provided and one of them is supposed to be a good one. nealberk Posted April 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2004 An interesting little tidbit. Holland America uses the same hair dryers that Celebrity uses. In their current advertising, one of the many things they mention is that the hairdryers are all being replaces with salon quality dryers. Somebody is listening. MSBYRDY Posted April 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Just off Galaxy on March 19th. Take your own with you. I have extremely short hair and even that took alot longer to dry. I can make do, but you'll be really upset. Have a great trip. Marilyn
cruise pup Posted April 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Some people may not know this, but there is a hidden outlet in the base of the hairdryer. You'll see part of the front can lift up (it has a funny symbol that's supposed to be an electric razor). I use it to connect my braun/oral b electric tootbrush charger base and it works fine. brigittetom Posted April 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I agree with the above. Definately bring your own if you have thick hair. I put a couple of rollers on the top and about fall asleep sitting on the toilet trying to get those to dry (that's the most comfortable place to be for the duration). On the Century the plug was not US standard and could not be used.
superjerryw Posted April 6, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2004 The hair dryers on the Galaxy are the type that has a hose with a nozzle on the end connected to a base unit mounted on the wall that generates the hot air. They are not the hand held units most people use to style their hair. <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=03> <param name="day" value=19> <param name="hour" value=17> </applet> Donuts, is there anything they can't do....
