How sticky is Carnival on how you use the OBC?

 

The Carnival announcement on the stock ownerships says:

 

"This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account.

 

If I went on a cruise and didn't buy anything or do any shore excursions, do they actually not apply the OBC to the tips?

The OBC is as good as cash, as far as I can tell. We have never had an issue. Of course, our charges are across the board - so your mileage may vary!

I told DH about this stock on Friday, we got 100 shares today at $28. Our broker thought it was a great buy at $30. Now to get my OBC....:D

My last sail and sign was really cheap, I can't remember exactly how much (under $50?). They did apply the OBC towards my tips (and a couple of drinks woohoo).

Yeah you will. I'll look into it if it dips below $20. I have a feeling it will go below the 2001 lows.

Dividends were discussed a couple of pages back - this is the third time I have purchased CCL, and I have never held onto it long enough to reap a dividend.

 

Yes, each sailing is considered separate cruise - so you would enjoy an "instant" $200 return!!!

Dividends are paid every 3 months. Next one is due in January

Given the current economic environment I would not count on the dividend being secure. Buy only because you like the prospects over the next 3-5 years.

Buy or CRY?? I don't see it getting there myself but I've been wrong before (please don't tell my husband I said that) :D

 

If somehow it did get that low it would be really hard not to step up and buy some more just to spread the cost of the stock around.

I am generally the advice giver rather than receiver, however I now find I am in need.

 

I have never tried to use the stock ownership OBC benefit for a group cruise. (going on my first group cruise in less than 2 weeks) I have this past week faxed to carnival 3 times my proof to get this benefit. there have been 4 phone calls, each with different instructions on how to get this done. the last one was that I have to send my stock proof to my TA who then in turn has to send it to carnival. I must admit, I really don't like my TA having this very personal information. I feel like I am getting the run around, not to mention the wasted time on faxing and phoning....I am a very busy person during business hours and don't have time to keep playing these games.

 

Those of you who have experience in this arena, could you please comment?:mad:

The range for CCL has been amazing lately. 25.90 - 29.45 for today alone! So mad at myself, I typoed my sale today and missed out on it. I hope it stays in the 29s tomorrow :)

 

Dividends were est at .36-.38 for the next time. What could change that? Drop in oil (yipppee) and the dollar gaining strength against sterling. I so hope its better than .38, a great dividend might create a temp surge so I can dump some of my higher priced CCL.

We have an account with Ameritrade so I'm not sure how yours is done but ours was easy. Once we made the purchase we had to wait for the trade confirmation to post the information to our account. It took less than 24 hours to get access to our stock certificate. I printed that out and faxed it to Carnival. Time was of the essence for us as we purchased and sailed a week or so later. On scottrade, you go to my account, then my positions and all my stocks show up with the amount of shares...I've been told to just print that and fax it in, but I am having zero luck so far!! Carnival has been less than helpful with this as well...

No I wasn't with a group. Just me and my Family. I guess thats why your having a problem. I would have your T/A call and ask what needs to be done. You have the stock, you must get the OBC credit. Don't take no for and answer
