Getting to Ship - Question

1st Timmers

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!!! We are flying into Fort Lauderdale on Saturday for our cruise out of Miami. On Sunday, we were going to get a shuttle from the hotel and go to the ship.

Now we are thinking that we might rent a car after we land in Ft. Lauder and drive to Miami.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it more of a headache

Also any recommendations on reasonable, clean places to stay in Miami.

Thanks for any input.........:)

What are you planning on doing with your rental? I think the shuttle is going to be your best bet because they do this on a regular basis. Miami hotels are not cheap. Since you've asked for "reasonable" I assume that your best bet is to stay in Ft. Lauderdale and shuttle. I vote "headache." Have a great cruise!!

You could always go down to Miami on the day you arrive by shuttle and stay at the Holiday Inn, Port of Miami. I have gotten really nice rooms there for a little less than $150 and the location is fantastic. Bayside Market is across the street with plenty of dinner choices and a cab the next day will run you about $10. I would never consider driving to Miami, but that's just me.

I agree with Bunkie -- rent the car and drive to Miami on Saturday, do any touring you want, then return the car and check-in to a hotel that has a free shuttle to the Port. You'll be there in 10 minutes. No chance of getting stuck in traffic, etc.
