Meeting place close to port?

GORDONCHICK

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a good meeting place very near the port. I have been "talking" to someone on the cruise right after ours and we'd like to meet after we disembark but before she embarks. Any suggestions?

I guess I should add that it should be very easy to find for people who have never been to NOLA before.

I agree, the Rivercenter food court is the closest thing to the pier. If you want to get specific you can say the tables closest to the Southern Food and Beverage Museum, which is right inside the door on the Julia Street entrance.

Thanks for the info. Is there like a coffee shop or something that would be smaller (and easier to find someone when you don't know what they look like) than the foodcourt? If it's like the place in Vancouver right across the street from the cruise terminal, it will be packed with everyone anxious to get on (can't blame them at all) like we were for our Alaskan cruise. I know anything very close will likely be pretty crowded, even on a Sunday morning.

The Riverwalk isn't usually very crowded, even on cruise days, and there isn't much else around there.

At the northern end of the food court there is a shop that sells Mardi Gras stuff. There are two big stautues of MG characters in front. It would be hard to miss.

I am the person wanting to meet GORDONCHICK. I will be staying at the Astor Crowne Plaza. Is that within walking distance to the Riverwalk? Or is there somewhere in the middle? I know she wants to get on the road after our short meeting because they have a long ride home. I want it to be easy for her and her husband.

It's an easy walk to The Riverwalk. From the front (Canal St.) door of your hotel look to your left, you will be able to see Harrah's. The Riverwalk is behind Harrah's. I have to agree that The food court would be the best place to meet.
