SoFLCruiser Posted October 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2008 there is a little boat that will ferry you from the harbor of Charlotte Amalie to Water Island, for a small fee. there is a little secluded beach on Water Island, called Honeymoon Beach/Cove. After you get off the boat, walk up the hill, and look down the other side. You will see Honeymoon Beach. It's not a public beach, it belongs to Water Island. There are about 14 homeowners on Water Island, and some of them will be on the beach. There are no bathroom facilities or food kiosks. If you're interested in this secluded beach, my advice would be to get some goodies (food and beverages) from the store in Charlotte Amalie Harbor before boarding the boat to Water Island. Spend the day on Honeymoon Beach before going back to the ship. Just a suggestion. Been there, and have taken some of the most beautiful photo's of my career, there! chubbycheeks Posted October 13, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2008 Honeymoon is on Water Island and the ferry is $5 each way if you catch the little red boat from Tickles. During high season there is sometimes a travel bar at the beach. If you're lucky enough to be there on Sunday during high season then you might catch the potluck. As far as secluded beaches actually on St. Thomas, my vote goes for Lindquist. It's very pretty and most of the time there aren't very many people there. chubbycheeks Posted October 13, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2008 Since it is a private beach, can you get in trouble for going there? No, you're welcome to go. Just be respectful and clean up after yourselves. ;) Actually, in the Virgin Islands there are no real "private" beaches...they are all public. No one can stop you from going to a beach...it's illegal.
The Islander Posted October 15, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2008 A few notes... The ferry to Water Islands operates from Crown Bay Marina, which is a short walk from Crown Bay Dock, so its an easy trip for cruise passengers docking at Crown Bay. Water Island is the 4th island of the U.S. Virgin Islands group (St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John, Water Island). Beaches in the USVI are public. Population of the island, 161 (2000 census). Honeymoon does have bathroom facilities and it does have food/drink from Heidi's Grill (usually there daily until around 1pm) and Joe's Beach Bar (usually open through the late afternoon). The Bathroom is open when Joe's is open. Still a good idea to bring water and some snacks just in case you go hiking around the island or Heidi isn't there. SoFLCruiser Posted October 17, 2008 Author #7 Share Posted October 17, 2008 thank you islander. :) just a note: Heidi takes reservations on Saturday night. She cooks up a chicken, beef, & pasta plate for a flat fee. She also serves up alcoholic beverages, cold drinks and water. The islanders come down and have dinner around you. Some bring music, some bring candles and wine.
