happycruiser1942 Posted October 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2008 We are booked for a cruise Feb. 28th and are thinking about going to San Juan for a couple of days before we leave. Has anyone ever stayed at this hotel? Is it a good location?
Rare lv2cruisgrl Posted October 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2008 We stayed there a few years ago and it was a good location, we walked to the Fort and all the shops. We liked it.

negc Posted October 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Location is excellent. We stayed there when it was a Wyndham hotel and the rooms left a lot to be desired. Lobby is exceptionally small and crowded when people are checking in or out. Sheraton may have refurbished the rooms and if so, it is not a bad place to stay especially if the price is right.:)
MRSJINX Posted October 14, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2008 We are cruising on the AOS leaving Feb 22. We cruised from there 2 years ago and stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan and plan to spend a night there pre cruise again. We used our starwood points to stay there for free. We were traveling with someone that didnt have points and she paid approx. $300 for the night (ocean view with balcony). I would not pay $300 to stay there. It is convenient if your sailing with Carnival since thats where the ship docks...you just walk across the street to board. Royal docks someplace else. The food is very expensive there.... $20 hamburger but i'm sure there are other places to eat. The rooms are average hotel rooms..(clean) and the pool is on the roof and very very small. Its a great place to people watch since at night there is alot of activity and cars cruising up and down the boulivard. Hope this helps!
wrp96 Posted October 14, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 14, 2008 We stayed at the Sheraton before and after our Serenade cruise. The rooms have been redone since negc stayed there. They have the nice Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Beds. We enjoyed the room service there and the staff is friendly. The pool is nice, especially the view from there (if you are up there early am you can see the ships come in, if you are up there late at night, you see the ships leave). We found the hotel extremely convenient for exploring Old San Juan pre- and post-cruise. Also, because it is in OSJ you aren't tied to eating at the hotel as there are lots of different places to eat in OSJ. The lobby is definitely small but they do have a decent casino there if that is something that would interest you. When you check in do ask for a room on the front of the building, as Senor Frogs is behind the Sheraton and the rooms on the back can get some noise from Senor Frogs. The cab ride to the Pan Am Pier (which RCCL uses) takes about 10-15 minutes and costs between $10 and $15 (sorry can't remember the exact amount). prc Posted October 14, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Stayed at the SOSJ last January before Serenade. Great location, great service. We plan on staying 2 nights prior next SJ sailing.
psbchris Posted October 14, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 14, 2008 I stayed at the Sheraton a couple years ago. I thought the rooms were nice and clean. As mentioned, the pool is small. You are directly across the street from the pier. Also, within walking distance to all of Old San Juan! The restaurant & bar in the hotel were both enjoyable. Have fun! wrp96 Posted October 14, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 14, 2008 You are directly across the street from the pier. Please note that for cruises beginning and ending in San Juan RCCL does NOT use Pier 4 which is the pier that is directly across the street from the Sheraton. RCCL uses the Pan Am Pier which is across the harbor from OSJ - about a 10-15 minute taxi ride away from the Sheraton. Still fairly close, but not directly across the street.:)

deniuh Posted October 16, 2008 #11 Share Posted October 16, 2008 We stayed at the Sheraton in Sept 08 as we were sailing on AOS. The hotel is centrally located to everything. Rooms are great - with great views - if you get a view of the harbor. Staff was extremely polite. If you need a beach, that's not the place for you. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. My family loved it.
