Need help from Houston residents about route to Bayport Terminal

Hi. I would really appreciate some information about some of the roads and highways in Houston.

I have been to the Bayport Terminal before, but am curious about going a different way. I'd like some opinions on this. I'll be coming down 45 S and I'm thinking about taking either College St./Spencer Highway or Edgebrook/Fairmont Parkway to 146 and then on down to Port Road and the terminal. Are there a lot of lights this route? Would this be stupid? Should I just stick to the main highways and forget about doing this?

Any help or opinions will be appreciated. Thanks! :)

What's your origin point on 45? If you're already between Fairmont and Spencer, just take Fairmont across. If you're coming up from the south (League City, Webster, etc), just come across NASA or 96. Otherwise, I'd just take 225 across; it was an easy drive, even on a Monday when we did it a couple weeks ago. Leaving out on a Sunday means traffic is fairly light even with the lights. Your biggest hassle will be actually getting off 146 onto Port Rd, which is two-lane blacktop and is relatively unmarked. Just follow the mass of cars.
