Have you ever seen people on oxygen tanks at the casino with a cigarette in one hand? This is sad to me. Same thing with the large overeaters. They are not bothering me but it is so very unhealthy. I'm talking about folks who are, I don't know, 75 or more lbs overweight. When you are that overweight and then eating way too much it is dangerous. Just like smoking with an oxygen tank is dangerous.

Let's face it, we all have our struggles. All of us. but, when you see a blatant disregard for your health it doesn't make most people happy. Now, nobody on the cruise has to make me happy (except maybe the crew!), but seeing dangerous (immediate and/or long term) behavior is certainly worthy of a post on a cruise board.

Having said that, the op might have been interpreted as being angry at the heavy overeaters. I certainly am not. We just have so much information available on nutrition and exercise. I know that it is really hard to eat right and exercise every day with our schedules. But it has got to be a priority for everyone.

Also, to the person with the thyroid issue...that must have been so frustrating. Glad it finally came to a conclusion! Sounds like you didn't eat incorrectly and discontinue exercising even with your issue. That must have been so tough and frustrating.

I must also say that I go to the gym on the ship most days and rarely do I see obese people there. Then I see them at the buffet eating way too much. Can't help it, you just notice these things.

It is one thing to "notice these things". It is another thing to say such mean things as the OP did. It is no wonder you don't see obese people in the gym because we don't really want to deal with the judgements of those who think they are so perfect.

"It is no wonder you don't see obese people in the gym because we don't really want to deal with the judgements of those who think they are so perfect."

I totally understand that. I can only speak for myself, my wife and most of my friends, but when we see overweight people walking, working out or generally exercising we love it. We feel like "good for you." We are definitely not judging them. I know that others do though and that is a form of prejudice.

I don't think that most less heavy people at the gym think they are so perfect (although I'm sure a handful do). The funny thing is that everyone I know wants to lose at least a few pounds...everyone! From 5 to 150 lbs. Very few people are 100% happy with their weight.

Wow, what an ignorant post. People without weight issues often sit high on their pedestals casting judgement on those who they consider obese and hence unhealthy.

I often find the biggest criticizers are the "naturally" thin people with fast metabolisms who constantly eat fast food, never ingest a fresh fruit or vegetable and never ever exercise. They look down on those who are overweight as weak or without will-power when they have never had to restrict their food consumption or bust their tush to burn off extra weight their whole life. Just because these people may be thin, they certainly are not healthy.

The direction of these boards lately is very unfortunate. I am tired of arrogant posters casting judgement on others.

I have been on the destiny twice and never encountered anything like you did, as a matter of fact i have been on seven carnival cruises and never noticed anything like that on any cruise , but then again I'm not looking for it either i am with my family and friends and enjoying their company. I dont sit their and watch how much people eat and what they eat thats just kind of strange. maybe you take to much time watching everyone else and noticing all their faults. no one is perfect and everyone has their faults you will see that on every vacation if you pay that much attention to it. My attention is with my family and friends and with the new friends i meet , It seems sad to me that you spent most of your cruise watching everyone else that was enjoying themselves while you were agonizing on what they ate and how they acted. Pay attention to yourself and your family and you wont notice many of the things that happened. Enjoy your vacation enjoy who you are with!!!

why cant you bring your chairs down to the water I dont under stand why you would say they have no class? that makes no sense i do that all the time.

OP, it sounds like hell. People stuffing themselves constantly - sounds almost like a zombie type of movie.... I cruised in June - very busy ship. I am trying to remember noticing anyone "stuffing themselves". I can't seem to recall anything like that.

Rude children - no - didn't notice them either. I was too busy having fun and relaxing and talking with my family. I also brought a book or 2 and was reading.

I appreciate you sharing your cruise with us - I hope your next one will be even more enjoyable.

... to know who watches what other people are eating? Personally, I'm relaxing too much to notice exactly what other people are doing. General observations are one thing, but to hone in on what people are eating begs the question: how does it affect you?

Thanks for the review of the Destiny. I have been trying to find info about her since the upgrades. I am going to be on her for the 3rd time in Dec. I always have a great time.

As for the rude guests, I think it is pretty much the same everywhere.

I did notice that on the Imagination last month, most of the children on board were at the waterworks area, and not the main pool, so it was much quieter than usual on the Lido Deck.

Valancy1, Have you ever heard of MBT shoes? I have plantar fascisis (sp?) too, and really aggravated it by working full time in retail for a while. But when I wear my MBTs regularly it really helps. They are curved on the bottom and stretch out your feet and calves alot.

Who care's what others eat?!? While on vacation, people tend to participate in all of the "overs": "overeat", "overdrink", "overparty", "overplay", "overs*x", etc.....

It's such a shame that it seems that MOST of your review was dedicated to sharing your onboard "obese" experience...I think I can speak for the majority...WE DO NOT CARE!!!!!
